Walking about 7 miles; approximately 4.5 hours; through towns and on natural trails with minimal ascents and descents. Getting on/off motorcoach; driving about 30 miles (48 km) roundtrip; less than 1 hour total.
At the hotel, the breakfast buffet offers choices such as cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, fruit, and breads, plus milk, juice, coffee, tea, water.
Walking from the hotel, we’ll set out on a field trip with a local expert while exploring the farmers markets of Place de la Republique in Sarlat, capital of the Périgord Noir. Sarlat is the walnut and foie gras capital of France.
This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.
Next, we’ll transfer by motorcoach to the starting point of the hike, during which we will walk along the tracks of a former steam engine, passing by the castle of La Fillolie. At the church of St. Amand de Coly, our walk will end and we will take in some commentary about the region of Perigord and medieval religious and Romanesque architecture.
At a local restaurant, we’ll have plated meals with water included.
