Chris Chiparaushe was born in Zimbabwe and exposed to the bush from an early age when he herded cattle with his grandfather over school holidays. He learned a lot about animals, birds and plants from his grandfather, and knew from an early age that he wanted to work in hospitality. He studied tourism management in Victoria Falls and has been a professional leader since 1998. He is especially passionate about birding and astronomy and loves teaching travelers about Southern Africa’s rich history and culture.

Caprivi Region
Situated in the Eastern Caprivi of Namibia, a narrow strip of country on the northern bank of the Chobe River, Chobe Savanna Lodge overlooks the vast floodplains of the Chobe National Park’s Puku Flats. The Chobe River is home to large herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, migratory birds, as well as dense concentrations of other wildlife – including the rare puku antelope – which come down to the river’s edge to drink and graze.

This is the only wildlife area in Zambia with white rhinos because they are closely protected here from poachers by the scouts from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife. The park is filled with a mix of riverine forest, mopane woodland, and grassland, which also provides a variety of habitats for numerous bird species.
