Activity note: Check-in available from 4:00 p.m. You are welcome to arrive as early as you like, but accommodations will not be available before the noted time.

Afternoon: Program Registration: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table to register with the program staff and get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information. If you arrive late, please ask for your packet when you check in.

Dinner: In the retreat center dining room on the lower level at 6:00 p.m., our dinner buffet offers a rotating variety of hot entrees, sides, as well as salads and dessert. Find a seat and take your glass to the beverage center for your choice of soda, coffee (regular/decaf), tea (hot/iced), and water.

Evening: Orientation: In our private meeting room, the Group Leader will greet everyone with a warm welcome and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule and any changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures including contact numbers for key staff, and answer any questions you may have. Scheduled free time is reserved for your personal independent exploration. Please be aware that program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Lectures this week will be approximately 90-minutes long. The first morning lecture is at 9:00 a.m. The second morning lecture is at 11:00 a.m. The afternoon lecture is at 2:00 p.m. Continue getting to know your fellow participants and find out what you have in common beyond a love of learning.

Breakfast: In the retreat center dining room at 8:00 a.m., our breakfast buffet offers a variety of rotating choices such as an egg dish, breakfast meat (such as bacon, ham, sausage), hot and cold cereals, fruit, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, milk, juices, coffee (regular/decaf), tea, and water.

Morning: It’s been 500 years since Martin Luther nailed The Ninety-Five Theses to the doors of the church at Wittenberg. Study the events in Germany leading up to Luther’s historic action, such the selling of indulgences, and discuss the break with Rome.

Lunch: In the retreat center dining room at 12:30 p.m., our lunch buffet offers a variety of rotating choices such as salad bar with lots of fresh toppings, sandwiches and wraps, casseroles, soups, cookies and dessert bars, along with milk, coffee (regular/decaf), tea (hot/iced), and water.

Afternoon: Continue our discussion of the Protestant Reformation.

Dinner: Retreat center buffet.

Activity note: Six steps up into coach. Ramped walkways at restaurant and theater. Listening devices available at the theater.

Breakfast: Retreat center buffet.

Morning: Theater Field Trip To Fort Atkinson: Board our coach at 9:00 a.m. for The Fireside Theater in nearby Fort Atkinson. We'll take a short tour through Lake Geneva and your Group Leader will share some local history and point out historic buildings. Fort Atkinson is approximately 40 miles northwest from Lake Geneva. Travel time is approximately one hour.

Lunch: Plated lunch at the theater restaurant. Enjoy a 3-course plated meal of broccoli and cauliflower salad, roast boneless pork chop, and hummingbird cake, plus coffee (regular/decaf), tea (hot, iced, or iced raspberry), milk, water; other beverages available for purchase. Please let your Group Leader know about any dietary restrictions or mobility needs.

Afternoon: Matinee Theater Performance: CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES at 1:30 p.m. The church basement kitchen throughout much of America is often the heart and soul of any church. In CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES we meet the pastor, three cooks and one daughter who run the kitchen and care for the congregation. As in any kitchen, problems arise. We watch as the four women handle a Lutefisk Dinner, a funeral, an Easter fund raiser, and, of course, a wedding. They stave off potential disasters, have loads of fun, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the pastor on a steady course.
