Afternoon: Hotel Check in is available from 4:00 p.m. Program Registration: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table in the lobby to register with the program staff and get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information. If your arrival is delayed, please ask for your packet when you check in.

Dinner: Welcome dinner at your hotel.

Evening: Orientation: The Group Leader will greet everyone with a warm welcome and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule and any changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures including contact numbers for key staff, and answer any questions you may have. The program schedule has been structured so that participants can get the most out of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. There will be two films each morning, followed by critique sessions at the hotel in the afternoon and early evening. You may attend either of these critique sessions and see other films in the available time as you like. Our program was planned far in advance when performance details were not available. The information will be posted on our website when released — usually one to two weeks prior to the festival start date. Breakfast: From 6:30 AM enjoy a breakfast buffet at your hotel.

Morning: The Palm Springs International Film Festival is one of the largest and most well-respected in North America. With more than 200 films from more than 60 countries, it is also one of the most culturally diverse, presenting an extraordinary mix of those who make films — in front of and behind the cameras. Each film is an opportunity to stimulate your thinking and imagination. Depart hotel via motor coach for your two morning films. Upon arrival, a general overview will be provided along with an introduction to the film. Film #1: A Serious Game will be shown. After viewing the first film, there will be a short break before film #2: Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe.

Lunch: Return to your hotel via motor coach and enjoy lunch with your group.

Afternoon: Afternoon Critique Session: 2:30 p.m. Led by film experts, we will focus on the films we’ve seen earlier in the day. This is an opportunity for in-depth discussion to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the content. The remainder of the afternoon is free. For those who would like to see additional evening films, we recommend attending the afternoon critique session; for those who would like to see additional afternoon films, we recommend attending the evening session.

Dinner: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.

Evening: Evening Critique Session: 7:00 p.m. Our second film critique session of the day. The remainder of the evening is free.

Afternoon: Afternoon Critique Session: 2:30 p.m. It’s been said that watching movies with a critical eye is almost like playing chess. With an understanding of basics and some practice, you can learn to anticipate moves in the movies and adjust your “lens” accordingly. The remainder of the afternoon is free.

Dinner: Hotel buffet: 5:30-7:00 p.m. Dine at your preference for time to view other festival films.

Evening: Evening Critique Session: 7:00 p.m. For true film buffs, in recent years the festival has added late screenings of “edgy, fun films” and subject matter “a little further afield.”

Some mark debuts, others the latest works of masters. Examine fascinating aspects of the films we’ve seen with our experts. The remainder of the afternoon is free.

Our experts will further illuminate aspects of the films we’ve seen today.

Dinner: A buffet-style dinner will be available from 5:30-7:00 PM at your hotel. We want to be able to give you the option to view films in the afternoon or evening, so dinner will be at your leisure.
