The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem sets the stage for hands-on learning during Teton Science Schools expert-led small-group encounters in America’s most revered wildernesses. Hikes, wildlife observation, rafting and an old west cookout dinner are just a few of the memorable events in store for you and your fellow adventurers.
Activity Level
Outdoor: No Sweat
Hiking up to six miles over varied terrain in groups split by desired intensity. Paddling a canoe for 1-2 hours. Elevations of 6,200-10,450 feet.

  • Take a scenic float down the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park.
  • Ride the aerial tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain for high-elevation hiking.
  • Venture into Yellowstone for a day to search for wildlife, learn about thermal features, and witness Old Faithful erupt.

This is a large group program. Max of 54 participants, divided into smaller groups for activities.

Kevin Krasnow
Kevin Krasnow is an educator and ecologist passionate about understanding how to live sustainably with the natural world. He has instructed Outward Bound courses in the Beartooth Mountains, taught high school biology and chemistry, and directed an outdoor leadership and science program in San Francisco public schools. He has conducted research in the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains focusing on aspen ecology and restoration, fire history and ecology, and fuels mapping and fire simulation. Kevin has a Ph.D. in environmental science from UC Berkeley.
