This short trip was a great addition to our Croatian experience, since it showed us a completely different side of the country. We saw the amazing Plitice Lakes Park - truly a fairyland of mist, waterfalls, clear lakes, and reflections. I expected an elf to pop out at every corner. Zagreb is a sophisticated capital city that blends the modern and the ancient. Lots of interesting museums too. Our guide, Luci, who lives in Zagreb, was both knowledgeable and gracious. In contrast to the summer weather on the coast, it was chilly and raining in Zagreb, and a couple of us were under-dressed. Luci lent us coats - talk about taking the shirt off your back for others! It really helped. Accommodations and meals were national park quality in the Park, and excellent in Zagreb. I really recommend that since you've made the effort to come all the way to Croatia, that you add on these few extra days -your appreciation and understanding of the country will increase exponentially.

After cruising the Adriatic coast and exploring islands and towns, it was great to turn inland into another landscape and other portions of Croatia's history and legacy. The Tesla Memorial was a highlight!

If you do a Google search of images for Plitvice Lakes you will get an idea of what there is to see there. However, be aware that to properly see the area you will need to be able to walk continuously for three hours including walking up and down significant hills. Zagreb is a beautiful old city with friendly inhabitants that often speak English. Again, to properly see the city you are going to have to walk for hours at a time.

My husband & I have been on over 20 Road Scholar programs in the past two decades. We enjoyed this one, both the cruise along the Dalmation Coast, and the trip extension to Plitvice Lakes and Zagreb. You can read all about both of them on our blog: http://www.mytripjournal.com/Lois_and_John_Croatia_and_Greece

Adequate information is provided on the website.

A truly life-changing experience! I particularly appreciate how well we were taken care of. Thank you Road Scholar.

We found the trip to Croatia informative, revealing, and fun. We were introduced to a part of the world we'd never even thought about before. An enriching and enjoyable experience!

Amazing trip and so varied in experience as it included both the capital city of Zagreb and the beautiful National Park.

Very worthwhile pre-trip extension. The time in Zagreb was interesting, and Plitvice Lakes National Park is not to be missed!

Interesting! Good job!

I highly recommend this trip and loved our guide, Ivan Boban. It was a great education on Croatia.

I enjoyed the extension very much, particularly the hike through Plitvice National Park.

Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes and Zadar are both beautiful and interesting. It was great to see all of them.

The extension program should not be missed. It is excellent in its own right. The trip to the interior covers a surprising number of sites and gives one a deeper appreciation of the country's history and beauty.

The Croatia extension trip was amazing and worth the additional 4 days. The visit to the National Park was a not to be missed highlight

I encourage anyone who is signed up for "The Best of Croatia: A Coastal Voyage by Yacht" program to also sign up for the Extension: "Croatia's Capital and Beautiful Lakes, " in order to experience and appreciate the differences between the northern and southern parts of this beautiful country.
