Afternoon: Check in with your leader at the Education Center from 3:00- 5:00 PM. Welcome to the program, group introductions and orientation.

Dinner: Dinner will be served in the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall. Our dining staff will prepare and serve your meal cafeteria style, with options ranging from a hot meal to a diverse salad bar.

Evening: Learn about the week ahead and meet the other program participants. We will also have an introduction to Basket Coiling techniques.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be in the Chincoteague Bay Field Station cafeteria from 7:30-8:30 AM. Each day our cafeteria staff will present an array of fruits, hot and cold cereals, meats, breads/biscuits, eggs or pancakes for your choosing.

Morning: Drill Starts and Begin work on Baskets

Lunch: Lunch will be at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Take a trip to Wallops Island to gather implements for your basket. The restricted access on the NASA Wallops Island base left an environment that is great for education as well as shelling. We will first visit the beach to gather shells and implements to include in Baskets. Next we we travel to the Marsh. Here you will receive Instruction on sustainable gathering techniques for Marsh grasses. NOTE: Our access to Wallops Island will depend on the security level of the base at the time, which is influenced by a number of factors independent of the Chincoteague Bay Field Station and its actions.

Dinner: Dinner will be served at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall.

Evening: This evening we will begin our baskets. Learn how to drill the starts for your basket an begin to coil your creation.

Lunch: Lunch will be in the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall.

Afternoon: This afternoon well will learn how to treat pine needles with glycerin. We will continue to work on our baskets.

Dinner: Dinner will be served at the Chincoteague Bay Field StationDining Hal

Evening: Barrier islands: the natural history, importance and future of these unique ecosystems. Learn about how one of the world's most biologically productive areas constantly changes as a result of a multitude of collaborative environmental factors.

Lunch: Lunch will be served at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall

Afternoon: This is a free afternoon to visit some of the local sites, explore the town of Chincoteague, walk the trails of the Wildlife Refuge, fish, shop, or just relax at a local coffee shop.

Dinner: Dinner will be served at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall

Evening: Ice Cream Social - Continue work on your 1st or 2nd Basket Creation. Eat Homemade Ice Cream fresh and Delicious!

Morning: Tour Chincoteague NWR, located on Assateague Island, consists of more than 14,000 acres of beach, dunes, marsh, and maritime forest.

Lunch: Lunch at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station Dining Hall

Afternoon: Complete your first or additional basket. Learn how to beeswax your completed basket to help it last longer.

Dinner: Get ready for a seafood feast! Sample local crabs and shrimp or if you choose, grilled chicken, or portabello mushrooms.

Evening: Continue work on your baskets and relax with wine and cheese.

Morning: Put the finishing touches on your baskets. Use elements gathered earlier in the week to decorate and embellish your creations. Then it is time to check-out and say “until next time” to your newly made friends.
