Colorado ON the beaten path is beautiful, but OFF the beaten path—along its many scenic by-ways, in the mountains and the farmlands and valleys, in small, historic towns—it can be stunning. I'm sure this trip along the scenic by-ways would be beautiful and interesting in any season, given the many changes that must occur from month to month, but it's hard to beat such a trip when fall color is exploding—really breathtaking in places. Add to that some very competent, interesting, accommodating guides/instructors who have deep roots in the area and stories to tell and it all adds up to a very enjoyable week in Colorado.

Are you interested in traveling through some of the most scenic and historic regions of Colorado? Want to get off the well-traveled roads to enjoy the scenic backcountry of the Centennial State? why not sing up for “Colorado[s Scenic Byways”, a Road Scholar activity that offers a wide diversity of historical, geographical, and geological experiences. Joan and Lee are outstanding tour leaders and offered a well-destined program.

The Scenic Byways of Colorado tour was by far the best tour we've taken with Road Scholar. Joan Fields was a super tour guide. Her comments were always interesting and informative, and she included little-known sites and special out-of-the-way places we never would have experienced on our own.

Super tour through varied scenery, mountains and valleys, small communities and a wide mix of museums. Thanks to tour leader Joan's wide and local knowledge and Lee's expert driving on narrow winding roads, and the friendliness and help of both. Long days on the road, but I would love do this again.
