It is a bus tour of the western 2/3 of the state. Native plants, animals, topography, history, engineering feats, and personal stories will be integrated into making the trip interesting and informative.

The Colorado Scenic Byways tour provided the opportunity to see amazing color and landscapes everyday of the trip. Having never visited Colorado before I was amazed and learned a lot about different parts of the state while appreciating the brilliant colors.

This Rocky Mountain tour was all I ever dreamed of. Mountains, mountains and more mountains. Spectacular vistas at every turn. The mining towns, ghost town and the Ute Cultural Center as well as the Creede Underground Mining Museum we’re perfect add ins to increase one’s understanding of the history of the areas we passed through. The golden quaking Aspen were magnificent

Joining the Colorado's Scenic Byways Program is the best way to explore the stunning mountain scenery and the way of life of the fascinating men and women who live in small isolated towns. The leaders have chosen untouristy, genuine places to visit. On your own, you would never be able to replicate this marvelous experience. Come February when gloomy, cold weather may trap you inside, you will be able to return to the these places and experiences in your mind and feel pure joy. This trip is right at the top of Road Scholar's offerings.

Each day was filled with beautiful and diverse mountains, ranches and history. The group leaders were well informed about the state, its geography, its people and their stories and this added to the travel experiences. It was well done and jam packed with information and fun.

A wonderful overview of this part of Colorado, its quirky folk, its historical towns, and magnificent scenery. Leader Joan and driver Lee were excellent guides who introduced us to special places and friends who enhanced our experience. Highly recommended for those who want to get off the beaten path and be inspired by scenic beauty and unconventional sites.

When I read that we would be in the mountains I had no idea what we were in for. This trip was so much more than I expected and received.

Don't miss this road trip! You will see and learn and experience and be entranced by all of it. Leave the driving to Lee as you witness Life Along the Colorado Byways.

This was an excellent program and superb overview of Colorado mountains, geography, small towns and cultural interests. The leaders were extremely knowledgable and capable and very well organized.

Colorado ON the beaten path is beautiful, but OFF the beaten path—along its many scenic by-ways, in the mountains and the farmlands and valleys, in small, historic towns—it can be stunning. I'm sure this trip along the scenic by-ways would be beautiful and interesting in any season, given the many changes that must occur from month to month, but it's hard to beat such a trip when fall color is exploding—really breathtaking in places. Add to that some very competent, interesting, accommodating guides/instructors who have deep roots in the area and stories to tell and it all adds up to a very enjoyable week in Colorado.

The Scenic Byways of Colorado tour was by far the best tour we've taken with Road Scholar. Joan Fields was a super tour guide. Her comments were always interesting and informative, and she included little-known sites and special out-of-the-way places we never would have experienced on our own.
