We had an excellent trip to a beautiful country. It's very close, safe, warm, sunny and different. You would be surprised (in a good way) and definitely enjoy it.

If you want to begin to understand Cuba, its history and its people, beyond the "party lines" coming from the US and Cuban governments, Road Scholar is most definitely the way to go. Cuba is "muy complicado" to be sure, but I understand it infinitely better than I did before my journey there.

My trip to Cuba with Road Scholar was orders of magnitude more fun, more educational and more uplifting than I ever could have envisioned. The guides were great and it was an amazing trip.

Our Cuba trip far exceeded my expectations in providing us a better understanding of Cuba, its people, its history and its culture. The various artists and cultural groups we met gave us an opportunity to interact with the participants and to appreciate the quality of the educational system in Cuba and the talent of the artist. Our RS tour director, James Fitch and our Tour Guide, Jose Pullu were far and above the best we have experienced in our many group tours. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to fellow travelers. Outstanding!!

This is a fantastic and timely program. We were amazed how the Cubans do so much with so little. People in Cuba are more important than money. Wow! Our guides were top notch. The art, music and dance experiences were fabulous. We had chances to meet Cubans and learn. It was 100% wonderful. Take along some gift donations, and some trail mix. Be prepared to be educated and thrilled.

A fantastic programme, led by two exceptional and knowledgeable guides, Jocelyn and Ismar. This was our first Road Scholar expérience, but it certainly won’t be the last.

My wife and I recently participated in a two week tour to the Island of Cuba from the Town of Holguín to the City of Havana. Meeting one-on-one with the people of Cuba was the experience of a lifetime, as they shared the richness of their culture and showed us the warmness of their personalities. Road Scholar’s Julie Cardenas and our Cuban Guide, Ismar Martinez did a wonderful job showing us the “Real” Cuba. We learned to love the people and the country of Cuba. Special lectures on Architecture and Religion were a perfect supplement to the learning experience. Road Scholar provided a learning experience my wife and I will never forget.

My trip to Cuba provided a comprehensive look at a country with whom the US has no contact. The guides were wonderful and arranged many activities that allowed us to interact and get to know citizens of the island. I learned about, and can now appreciate, the real Cuba.

This is a great program. The people to people aspect of the program gave much more value to visiting Cuba. I had a much more enjoyable experience in Cuba then my friends did with other programs. I highly recommend this program.

At 78 and 89 yrs. of age this trip was a leap of faith, especially since the planned boat accomodations were cancelled. But we have trusted Road Scholar for >90 trips and again our RS guides made this our "Best Trip Ever".

An excellent trip that truly covered all aspects of the island. Out RS leader, Jim Fitch, was excellent, highly engaging, informative and one of the best I have ever traveled with. He worked well with our Cuban guide, Eddy and the bus driver to provide timely information. Lectures were informative and presenters were open to any and all questions. Accommodations and food were excellent. Covering the island allowed the opportunity to see the small towns, countryside and have a real feel for Cuba. The people to people experiences were a delight and very informative. Our visits to artist studios, music schools, Jazz ensembles and unique Farms were superb. We even had a pig roast at one farm. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a real view of Cuba today. This is a 5 star tour !

RS has some of the best leaders, tour guides and bus drivers I could have asked for..........The history is what it is, but the quality of the RS people make the difference.

If you are considering touring Cuba, I would definitely recommend "Inside Cuba: An In-Depth Island Journey: Holguin to Havana", you won't be disappointed. We had so many wonderful experiences with the Cuban people and learned a lot in the process.

We just returned from two weeks in Cuba. It was a fascinating, eye-opening and fun experience. I had done a lot of reading in advance, but the depth and breadth of what we discovered was well beyond what I learned about Cuba from books and movies and documentaries. The people-to-people experiences were exceptional (although I wish we had brought more saxophone reeds and guitar strings, etc!) And our guides and bus driver were tremendous. Jose, our Cuban guide was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, patient and fun. He worked well together with Manuel (the U.S. based guide) and with our skilled bus driver, Guillermo aka "Willy." I highly recommend this trip - because it is 14 days, you get to see a wider range of villages, history and living conditions. The eastern end of the island is very different from the central and western end.

No mention whatsoever about our on board native Cuban guide, only the Road Scholar guide. Or did I mis-interpret your questions ? Our Cuban guide was most likable and informative and he should be aware of our feelings.

We chose this program based on our previous experience with Road Scholar when we went to China. The "Inside Cuba: An In-Depth island Journey from Holguin to Havana" was the best way to learn about Cuba's, history, culture, and people. We stayed in excellent hotels, the food was better than we expected, and the people to people activities were excellent. We were very curious about Cuba and this trip exceeded our expectations.

This was a trip of a lifetime. I'm not sure I knew what to expect, but it exceeded any possible expectations. Seeing the whole country instead of a couple of cities was definitely the way to go. The People to People interactions were so stimulating and so much fun!!!

A wonderful way to explore Cuba and it's people. I strongly recommend this trip. Our guides Cheryl and Esmar were very knowledgeable. We were very fortunate to have them on this tour. This was my first RS trip, and not my last . As a single traveler I made wonderful friends and look forward to meeting them again in the future.

If you are debating which Cuba trip to choose, take this one!! By seeing the island from east to west, you get a much better overall picture of Cuba. Each city was very different and added to our understanding of Cuban history and its people. Highly recommended!!

This trip was fabulous. It was one of the best trips I have ever been on. The guides (Julie and Ismar plus our driver Angelito) and the group were great. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. A couple of things: I would not recommend going to the place we went to lunch in Trinidad. I liked the Hotel we stayed at in Hotel E Centro in Santa Clara. They have a few things to work on such as making sure there is a big enough lip on the shower -otherwise water is running everywhere.

At age 83 and some medical problems I hesitated about the trip, my wife insisted ¨go ahead ¨It was the right decision. The trip was excellent. In the good old days we travelled to Western and Central Europe, South America, Mexico ant the Middle East. We had a very good time. This recent trip to Cuba was different, the people, our Group Leader and Instructor and the travelers made it an unforgettable experience.Highly recommended Luis Wainstein Seattle, WA

Excellent guides and lecturers. Better lodging than I expected. The program expanded my knowledge and perspectives on Cuban history, culture and politics. My co-travelers were very compatible. I was very pleased I chose this tour.

Judith

The program revealed a Cuba far different and more welcoming than I had been led to believe. I especially appreciated seeing alternative transportation forms in eastern areas, such as horse taxis. Seeing store shelf contents there created a sense of gratitude for what we have in the US. I encourage all Americans to visit this island for a true perspective on our neighbors to the south.

Cuba is an intellectually challenging place to visit, far more that most. And Road Scholar enriches that challenge with a wonderful array of different, and surprising, types of experiences, from food to history to art to lifestyles, and much more.

This trip offered a multi-faceted introduction to Cuban life and culture. The people-to-people visits provided opportunities to meet and interact with people of all ages and professions and the expert lectures provided a context for better understanding this complex country. I enjoyed the program immensely and appreciated the intellectual stimulation! It was a wonderful experience.

I loved this program, and urge others to push away the negative "stories" you might hear about Cuba. It is one of the most vibrant, diverse, safe and fun filled place I've been to. This is my third visit, and I'm ready for more. Go with an open mind, and a smile on your face. The Cuban people we met all said "We love people from the US " So get ready to meet them.

It was a great trip! If you ever want to see the real Cuba and learn what it is like, do it now! It's not a beach vacation, it's a mind opening experience that can't ever be taken away from you. The program was "get up and go" every day, so be ready to enjoy and rest when you get home.

Highly recommend this program for those wanting and open to learn about Cuba. Tour leaders, Manuel and Jose, were outstanding and the bus driver, Juan Antonio, we had was very good. Be prepared for limited food options BUT RS did openly inform participants. Our group was interesting and fun to be with. Probably because those who take RS trips are focused on learning and open to other points of view.

Fabulous trip. Thorough and in depth. Stimulating, Challenging. Leaders and lecturers willing to address the "hard questions." Great perspective on a system very different from ours, and one that is in growth and making every attempt to meet its challenges. Highly recommend this program.
