We will board a school bus for a field trip to the Plains of Abraham. With a a member of the Canadian militia (our local expert) will explore the Battlefield Park Museum. Learn about the history of the siege of Québec as if you were there. In an evocative, interactive setting, find out about the crimes, punishments and laws in force. Take part in an incredible immersive screening featuring original, often moving, accounts of those who loved through the battles of the Plains of Abraham. Then, join in and explore military life from every angle. Finally, admire treasures from the magnificent collection of artefacts in the Identities exhibition. Mid-morning we will board the school bus and driving about 3 miles to the Mosaîcultures. This amazing flowers and garden exhibition titled: Once Upon a Time... The Earth. A tribute to life on earth by different themes, not to be missed: The Polar and Marine World, Endangered Species, The Huron Wendat Nation and The Farm.
On your own to enjoy what you like in the Park.
Free time. You might like to explore the Musée de la Civilisation with its exhibitions tracing the history and culture of Québec and its peoples. Among them is “Our Story: First Nations and Inuit in the 21st Century” that provides an in-depth look at the 11 Aboriginal nations of Québec (voucher provided). Before dinner, we will join local musicians who will guide us in a discovery of Québec through song, instrumental music, tales, and jigs. We will learn about Québec musical traditions, rhythm and song, experiment with musical instruments (including percussion), and try out dance forms.
At the hotel, we will have 3-course plated meal with appetizer (soup or salad), choice of entrée (meat, seafood, vegetarian), and dessert of the day, plus beverage choices including coffee (regular/decaf), hot tea, water; other beverages are available for purchase from the bar. Share favorite experiences with new Road Scholar friends during our farewell dinner.
