Afternoon: Hotel Check-in: Available from 3:00pm. Registration & Bike Fitting 4:00-5:30pm The bikes included with this program have been specifically selected to meet the total riding needs of the participants. Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Orientation: The Group Leader will greet you with a warm welcome, introduce everyone, and provide key staff contact names and phone numbers. We will review the up-to-date daily schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have.

Dinner: Begin getting to know your fellow participants during dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Evening: Rest up for the biking week ahead or continue getting to know your fellow Road Scholars.

Searching Beyond the High Rises

Activity note: Today's ride is 15 plus miles with speeds of 10-15 mph with designated stops.

Breakfast: Our breakfast at the hotel offers a selection of hot and cold items including protein, fresh fruit, coffee and tea.

Morning: On this morning’s ride, we ride through neighborhoods and encounter places where ever-changing “New” Naples meets Old Naples. We will stop at several locations including, historic Naples Pier and Naples Depot Museum. You will be fascinated as we stop to view Palm Cottage, the oldest house in Naples, and ride through some of the older neighborhoods in this fast-changing community.

Lunch: Lunch at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

Afternoon: Visit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida for lunch, lecture and guided boat excursion.

Dinner: Take a walk for a local dining experience with your group.

Evening: Following dinner we will be joined by local expert, Theresa Schober for a lecture on archaeology in Southwest Florida.

Surviving Against the Odds-The story of One Beach Habitat

Activity note: Today's ride is 25-30 miles with speeds of 10-15 mph with designated stops.

Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Now that you’ve had a warm-up day, it’s time to raise our riding tempo for a day at the beach! Our bikes will wind northward through several neighborhoods and a stop at Lowdermilk Park before continuing on along Crayton Road and the beautiful Pelican Bay Parkway to finally arrive at our main destination, Delnor-Wiggins State Park. The park is located on one of the several barrier islands in the area.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Park.

Afternoon: Options: After lunch, you may choose to continue exploring Delnor-Wiggins State Park, go on a beach walk with your group leader, take a swim in the Gulf, or simply relax and take in the view before we ride back to the hotel.

Dinner: Dinner at a local restaurant.

Sanibel Island, Sanibel Light, and Sanibel Historic Village

Activity note: Today's ride is 15-20 miles with speeds of 10-15 mph with designated stops. 4pm Check-in at the Sundial.

Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: We will board a motor coach to take us to Sanibel Island where more than 22 miles of paths make this island a cycling paradise! This morning we will cycle to and visit the Sanibel Lighthouse. Hear about its fascinating history from Charles LeBuff who lived in the lighthouse quarters for 22 years.

Lunch: Bike to lunch at a local Sanibel restaurant.

Afternoon: After lunch, cycle over to the visit the Sanibel Historic Village for a self-guided visit. Check into the hotel.

Dinner: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.

Evening: At leisure.

Ding Darling, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation

Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Cycle to the J. N. Ding Darling Visitor Center, we will cycle through this exceptional National Wildlife Refuge. You will witness the spectacular migratory bird populations and lush vegetation.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at Rosie's Cafe

Afternoon: Visit CROW, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife CROW. Since 1968, each year nearly 4,000 sick, injured and orphaned wildlife patients from Southwest Florida receive care from CROW.

Dinner: Before dinner, hear from local author, Charles Sobczak. Enjoy a farewell dinner at the Sundial with your fellow Road Scholars.

Wrap-up Session, Program Concludes, Transfer to Naples

Morning: For those who would like to return to Naples a morning transfer will be provided. En route we will stop at the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers and the first hotel.
