1
Welcome to Northen Michigan! Get acquainted activities for all. Evening Special: Ice Cream Social

Activity note: Most activities inside with brief tour of facilities

Afternoon: Registration 2:30-4:30 PM, check in at the front desk. Welcome/Orientation/Tour at 4:30 pm.

Dinner: Dinner at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Evening: An evening of get acquainted activities, a look at the week ahead, and a welcome to The Great Lakes State. Enjoy an old fashioned ice cream social to end the evening.

Activity note: Early morning pontoon boat fishing has limited space- sign up required. Introduction to canoe skills may include tipping canoes in shallow areas - swimming suits are recommended. Team building may include use of the low ropes initiative course - flip flops are not permitted. Recreational free time allows downtime for grandparents while grandchildren are in supervised activities with Kettunen Center staff.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 8:00 AM.

Morning: 7:00 - 8:00 AM (optional) Early Morning Pontoon Boat Fishing Morning sessions: Team building and Intro to Geo-caching. Team building facilitators will use a variety of games, problem solving activities, and may use the low ropes initiative course, providing activities that are fun and challenging. Introduction to Geo-caching will demonstrate how to geo-cache anywhere in the world, and then give participants time to practice these skills on our closed course.

Lunch: Lunch at 12:00 PM in the dining hall.

Afternoon: Special Presentation: An illuminating presentation, by a local historian, that will enrich and enhance our understanding of the importance of Northern Michigan. Afternoon session: Introduction to canoeing. Learn and practice the eight basic canoe strokes taught by an experienced canoe instructor. Afternoon recreational free time will allow grandparents downtime while grandchildren are supervised by Kett Staff.

Dinner: Dinner at 5:30 PM.

Evening: After supper activity - tie dye t-shirts (100% cotton t-shirts are available for purchase). Evening Special: Songs around the campfire, led by local musician. A mix of traditional campfire songs along with songs that tell the story of our American heritage.

Biking the White Pine Trail. Survival Session. Evening Specials: Archery and Tour of Tustin Museum

Activity note: Pontoon Boat fishing has limited space - sign up required. The bike ride is 11 miles on a paved railroad grade. Recommended biking items: water bottles, good shoes (not flip flops), comfortable shorts or crops, (padded ones are nice but not necessary), light jacket, and camera. Helmets are required to be worn and are supplied, although you are welcome to bring your own.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 8:00 AM.

Morning: 7:00 - 8:00 AM (optional) Early Morning Pontoon Boat Fishing. Group A will leave at 9:15 AM for Cadillac to bike the White Pine Trail. Group B will remain at the center, for the Survival Session. Both groups will eat lunch at noon.

Lunch: Lunch at 12:00 PM.

Afternoon: Group B will depart for Tustin at 1:30 PM, to bike the White Pine Trail. Group A will remain at the center, for the Survival Session. Afternoon recreational free time will allow grandparents downtime while grandchildren are supervised by Kett Staff.

Dinner: Dinner at 5:30 PM.

Evening: Evening Sessions: The Basics of Archery with a local archery expert. Tour of Pine River Area Historical Museum in Tustin. Evening Special: Family Game Night

Lighthouse Hike, Picnic on Lake Michigan,Evening Special: Local Folk Band Performance.

Activity note: It is about an hour from Tustin to Ludington. The hike out to Big Sable Lighthouse is an easy 1 1/2 mile trail. Suggested items to bring along: water bottle, sunscreen, hat, camera, light jacket, comfortable shoes (no flip flops).

Breakfast: Breakfast at 8:00 AM.

Morning: 8:15 AM - Load vans for trip to Ludington Michigan. We will hike out to the Big Sable Lighthouse in the morning and then enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach.

Lunch: Picnic lunch on the beach.

Afternoon: After lunch, time will be spent enjoying the beach or exploring Ludington. We will depart by 4 PM to return to Kettunen Center.

Dinner: Dinner at 6:00 PM.

Evening: After supper, recreational free time will allow grandparents downtime while grandchildren are supervised by Kett Staff. Evening Special: Local folk group performance.

Orienteering, Wall Climb, ,Canoe Skills Evaluation

Activity note: Orienteering takes place on our hiking trails - wear good shoes. The wall climb requires the use of climbing harness - longer shorts, crops or lightweight pants are recommended.

Breakfast: Breakfast at 8:00 AM.

Morning: Morning Session: Compass and Orienteering.

Lunch: Lunch at noon.

Afternoon: Afternoon Sessions: Wall Climb and Canoe Skills Evaluation.

Dinner: Dinner at 5:30 PM.

Evening: Open Waterfront for all to enjoy. Optional campfire and activities to round out the end of the week.

Wrap up and closing activities.

Activity note: All activities are inside. Guests are asked to check out of their rooms by 10:30 AM. Box lunches will be available at breakfast for those needing to depart early.

Morning: Concluding Activities: Some final fun challenges for families. Sharing of journals and pictures. Wrap Up activities. Time Aone: time for families to say their goodbyes to one another.

Lunch: Lunch at 11:30 AM.

Afternoon: Independent departures after lunch.
