"North of NAPA" was a great way to experience the wine culture of northern California. My wife and I learned a lot, the pace was relaxing, and the accommodations and food were wonderful. Even if you don't attend this program, if you are in the area of Upper Lake, we'd recommend you stay at the Tallman Hotel.

Wonderful trip which exceeded my expectations! I've lived in California for 30+ years and was happily surprised by my first visit to this unique area. The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable, our meals were prepared by the excellent hotel chef and served in the hotel's pretty private dining room, the lectures and visits to many vineyards were all enjoyable. I may do this trip again!

The material was just scholarly enough to be educational without being overwhelming. A good mix of entertainment & information. Kudos on selecting a wonderful accommodation; the hotel was outstanding!

This was our third time doing this program. Great wines, excellent food, super accommodations, and fantastic hosts. Lake County (North of Napa and Sonoma) is one of the hidden gems of California.

Avoid the crowds of Paso Robles and Napa wine trails. This is great; Tallman Hotel is a historical building. It was very pleasant learning, sharing time and traveling with a small homogenous group of folks interested in the California wine industry. We had a returning couple in our group.

What an enjoyable and educational program! I learned a lot, met some lovely people, and tasted a lot of wonderful wines! The pace of the program matched that of Lake County itself; relaxed but purposeful. Let's go again!

The North of Napa: California Wine Country as It Used to Be is a great trip to try. I went with a few friends and we all had a wonderful time. We learned so much about wine; we learned how the grapes are grown, then harvested, and how they are processed into wine, we also learned how to taste the wines, and of course we visited several wineries from big to small and tasted their wines. We also got to learn about olives the planting and harvesting and making them into olive oil was a nice treat as well. Not to forget the goat farmer and his family, we met and learned all about making cheese and tasting it. It's a great trip, you will come away knowing so much more about wines, olives, and goat cheese and appreciating all that goes into making these products and the people who do the work while fulfilling their passions. Not to mention you will meet an amazing group of strangers who will turn into friends before the trip is over.

What a wonderful adventure. Starting with our gracious host, Bernie Butcher and the fantastic wines we all shared and ending with a farewell dinner that was superb, this has to be the one of the best of our almost 40 Road Scholar trips. The accommodations were of the highest standards. I can’t say enough good things about this program. If you are a lover of great food and wine, this is the program for you.
