This was an excellent trip. Lake County wine country is similar to what Napa and Sonoma were decades ago. The Tallman Hotel is a great place to stay for the entire trip. Chris was an excellent group leader and Bernie Butcher made the trip come alive with his knowledge and friendliness. We enjoyed talking to the wine makers, vineyard owners, and winery representatives to learn their philosophies (often contrasting), i.e., hand picking versus machine harvesting. All in all a very enjoyable and educational trip. And we got to taste some great wines.

"North of NAPA" was a great way to experience the wine culture of northern California. My wife and I learned a lot, the pace was relaxing, and the accommodations and food were wonderful. Even if you don't attend this program, if you are in the area of Upper Lake, we'd recommend you stay at the Tallman Hotel.

Wonderful trip which exceeded my expectations! I've lived in California for 30+ years and was happily surprised by my first visit to this unique area. The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable, our meals were prepared by the excellent hotel chef and served in the hotel's pretty private dining room, the lectures and visits to many vineyards were all enjoyable. I may do this trip again!

The material was just scholarly enough to be educational without being overwhelming. A good mix of entertainment & information. Kudos on selecting a wonderful accommodation; the hotel was outstanding!
