Afternoon: Check-in: Available from 3:30pm. Program Registration: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table to register with the program staff and get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information. Help yourself to the fruit basket! If you arrive late, please ask for your packet when you check-in. Orientation: 4:30pm. The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date daily schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have. Indicated times are approximate. Program activities, schedules and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. We have set aside some free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. The Group Leader will often be available during free time to accompany informal excursions, or activities. You are welcome to join if you like, with any associated costs on your own.

Dinner: In the Trout Lodge dining room, enjoy a buffet with selections from two soups, salad bar, two entrees, assorted side dishes, and dessert bar. Drink options include: coffee, tea, water, juice, soda and milk.

Evening: Introduce yourself, meet the instructors and get to know one another better. Enjoy an evening snack, decaf coffee and tea.

Lectures, Facility Tour, Wine Tasting

Activity note: Gentle walking outside. Wear appropriate footwear.

Breakfast: Hot buffet breakfast also includes fresh fruit, breads, cereals and pastries.

Morning: The first session will lead by one of our naturalist instructors. Be prepared to do some light hiking to learn about the local geology.Then, relax as you are taken on a tour of our 5200 acre facility, learning about the YMCA Trout Lodge & Camp Lakewood, Sunnen Lake and the surrounding area. Coffee, tea, water and light snacks will be available in the meeting space.

Lunch: Hot buffet lunch with salad bar. Menu varies.

Afternoon: Spend the early afternoon being guided by our instructors as you learn about the native species of the Ozarks. Next, enjoy a Wine Tasting held by one of our local wineries. Experience their fully Missouri-made wine. Join the owner in tasting wines and learning about the wine-making process.

Dinner: In the dining room, enjoy choices of two entrees from the hot buffet bar, soup and salad bar, desserts and beverages all included.

Evening: Meet our instructor for a visit to the YMCA of the Ozarks Nature Center. Experience hands on interaction with our local and exotic collection of animals as we learn about the characteristics of each special creature.

Activity note: All outdoor activities are weather-permitting. Some rescheduling may be necessary.

Breakfast: Hot buffet breakfast in the dining room also includes fresh fruit, breads, cereals and pastries.

Morning: Follow our instructors as you continue to learn more about the Ozarks Native species and geology. Be prepared for an indoor or outdoor learning experience that may include hiking.

Lunch: Hot buffet lunch in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies.

Afternoon: Field trip to Meramec Spring Park, which boasts the fifth largest natural spring in Missouri. Learn about the spring from the park naturalist, and explore the beauty of Meramec State Park.

Dinner: Hot buffet dinner in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies.

Evening: Following dinner, join us in our meeting space for a lesson in Astronomy held by our expert instructor. This lecture will be an indoor and outdoor experience (weather dependent).

Lectures, Nature Center, Ice Cream & Movie

Activity note: The field trip involves walking on sidewalks and gravel. Wear appropriate footwear.

Breakfast: Hot buffet breakfast in dining room also includes fresh fruit, breads, cereals and pastries.

Morning: Start the morning with a lecture held by our instructor. Be prepared to go outside for a light walk. Then, join us back in our meeting space as we enjoy a lecture by our Astronomy expert.

Lunch: Hot buffet lunch in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies.

Afternoon: Join our instructors for a light hike and lecture on the tree species in Missouri's Eastern Ozarks. Then enjoy a Pontoon Boat Tour on our beautiful 350 acre lake.

Dinner: Hot buffet dinner in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies.

Evening: Spend time with your new friends while conversing over Ice Cream. An optional movie will be available.

Elephant Rocks State Park, Water Ecology, Night Hike

Activity note: Elephant Rocks has two available routes, one paved, one over the rocks themselves.

Breakfast: Hot buffet breakfast in dining room also includes fresh fruit, breads, cereals and pastries.

Morning: Put on your water shoes and join our instructor as we learn about the creatures of the stream. Be prepared to get a little wet as you explore and search for the critters of our natural spring. Afterwards, take some time to yourself. Use the remaining morning to explore the property, relax or even have an adventure of your own. See your group leader for recommendations on fun things that you could on and off site.

Lunch: Boxed lunch for a picnic at the park. Meal included in the program price.

Afternoon: Field trip to Elephant Rocks State Park - home of giant elephant-shaped granite boulders and lots of history. Afterwards, explore Caledonia, known for antiques, and its famous candy shop.

Dinner: Hot buffet dinner in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies.

Evening: Spend the evening listening for the creatures of the night. Come prepared with flashlight and light hiking shoes as we venture into the night.

Morning: One final expert-led session to round out the week.

Lunch: Hot buffet lunch in dining room with soup and salad bar. Menu varies. Lunch is included in the program. A boxed lunch is available for an additional fee for those that wish to leave as soon as class is over.
