Activity note: Meet fellow participants and your guides for the program.
Afternoon: Check in at Heartwood Lodge anytime after 2:00 pm. Orientation packets will be available at check-in.
Dinner: Greet fellow participants and program staff at a welcome dinner held at Heartwood Lodge dining room.
Evening: Orientation and welcome from program staff and program guides. Program instructors are certified Maine guides and will introduce you to expectations for program events.
Activity note: You'll explore the bay region by kayak and by foot as you kayak and hike the wonders of Cobscook Bay.
Breakfast: A delicious breakfast will be served in the Heartwood dining room
Morning: Vans will depart from the lodge at 8:00 am going to one of the many waterfront landings where participants will be split into two groups. Group A will be met by guides for a morning of kayaking in Cobscook Bay, leaving from the boat landings and paddling to and from one protected bay to another. Group B will proceed to one of the many spectacular waterfront land trust sites.
Lunch: Groups A and B will meet back at CCLC for lunch.
Afternoon: Groups A and B will reverse the morning activities with Group B taking to the kayaks for a shoreline adventure, and Group A heading for the forested refuge sites of Maine's abundant land trust sites.
Dinner: Dinner will be served back at Heartwood Lodge.
Evening: Meet with the wife of a lobsterman who can tell you more about the life of a lobster fishing family than ten lobstermen.
Activity note: Please note that a U.S. Passport is required to enter Canada and visit Campobello Island. Children also need parental consent form.
Breakfast: Enjoy a great breakfast with your new friends at Heartwood Lodge.
Morning: Vans will depart at 9:00 for West Quoddy Head Lighthouse & Park. You will visit the easternmost point of land in the U.S. at the Lighthouse, then hiking along the spectacular trails of West Quoddy Head, which follows the coastline and offers gorgeous views of Campobello Island and Grand Manan.
Lunch: Picnic lunch at Herring Cove on Campobello Island
Afternoon: Proceed to Roosevelt Cottage International Park on Campobello Island, where we will study the life of FDR through his summer residence at Campobello and the visitor's center. Walk the bogs in Roosevelt International Park and learn about the plants abounding within. IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE: A U.S. Passport is required to enter Canada and visit Campobello Island. (rules are different for children under 16 who can cross with a copy of their birth certificate and a letter of permission from their parents.
Dinner: You will enjoy campfire supper on the CCLC campus, complete with grilled chicken, hot dogs, corn-on-cob, s'mores, and more over a cozy campfire.
Evening: Ghost stories around the fire ring.
Activity note: More kayaking, more time on the beach.
Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious breakfast at Heartwood Lodge
Morning: Participants will rejoin their respective groups for kayaking and hiking. Group B will join guides for kayaking in Whiting Bay, a beautiful secluded experience allowing for ample to explore the shoreline and view aquatic life. Group A will explore the a tidal flat to explore the life within under the direction of a naturalist.If we have time, we''ll also dabble with a "letterboxing" experience.
Lunch: Return to Heartwood Lodge for lunch.
Afternoon: Groups A and B will reverse the morning activities with Group A joining the Maine guides for a paddle in the quiet beauty of Whiting Bay and Group B exploring in the tidal flats of the Bay.
Dinner: Private pizza party at Heartwood! Expect great entertainment.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be served at Heartwood Lodge.
Morning: Vans will depart for the Eastport Breakwater at 8:30 am. We'll be spending the morning circling Passamaquoddy Bay aboard the 42' lobster boat, Lady Patricia. You will view aquatic wildlife as you cruise the spectacular waters of Passamaquoddy and Head Harbor Passage. We'll search for whales; glide along side the porpoise and seals; see the eagle nesting along the cliffs of Campobello Island; and watch the daily comings and goings of the local fishermen. The new boat has an on-board touch tank, a snack bar, a place to get out of the weather, and will stop to do a little lobster fishing.
Lunch: We'll have a small snack aboard the vessel and then return you to the Easport waterfront where you'll want to sample the many wares of the local eateries. Rosie's Hot Dogs is a favorite as are the lobster rolls of Quoddy Bay Lobster.
Afternoon: Free Afternoon. You may want to explore Eastport's historic waterfront or you may want to return to Heartwood and explore the Lubec region..
Dinner: A Maine lobster dinner treat awaits you at Heartwood Lodge.
Evening: Graduation festivities and reflection of the week's best.
