Afternoon: Check into hotel after 4:00 pm; Welcome reception and registration in the hotel at 5:00 pm. Orientation will be held in the designated classroom followed by dinner at 6:30 pm.

Visitors Center Museum, Battle: First Day Class & Field Trip

Breakfast: Full breakfast buffet at the hotel

Morning: This morning we'll begin with a field trip to the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitors Center and Museum. There you will watch the short film "A New Birth Of Freedom" narrated by Morgan Freeman, followed by a viewing of the restored cyclorama painting (one of only three left in the U.S.) which is a depiction of the Battle of Gettysburg. This will give you a great overview and understanding of the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg. Visit the museum gallery at your leisure and have a chance to see an extensive collection of artifacts and relics that were found on the battlefield of Gettysburg and other prominent battlefields of the Civil War. Browse the book store and gift shop with an outstanding collection of books on the Civil War and the battle of Gettysburg.

Lunch: At the hotel.

Afternoon: This afternoon, we will take part in a classroom session about the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. We will then visit the Seminary Ridge Museum where we will examine the pivotal first day of the battle. This will be followed by a field trip to the sites of the first day's battle including McPherson Ridge, Oak Ridge, The Eternal Light Peace Memorial and Barlow's Knoll.

Dinner: At the hotel.

Evening: This evening we'll enjoy the movie "The Gettysburg Story."

The Generals, Battle Day 2, Field Trip to Battlefield

Morning: This morning we'll discuss the roles of the generals of the Grey and Blue in our classroom sessions.

Lunch: At the hotel.

Afternoon: This afternoon we'll examine the second day of fighting in Gettysburg followed by a field trip to the battlefield to visit West Confederate Avenue, featuring monuments dedicated to the Southern States, as well as Little Round Top, Devil's Den, and the Wheat Field. The day will end with a walking tour of the Cemetery Hill, including the Soldiers' National Cemetery.

Dinner: At the hotel.

Evening: This evening we will attend a presentation of "Following a Civil War Soldier's Experience."

Battle Day Three, Clothing of a Civil War Soldier, Cyclorama

Morning: This morning we'll begin our program with a lecture on the third day of fighting at Gettysburg. Following our classroom discussion, we'll venture out to visit the day's corresponding sites on the Battlefield featuring the High Water Mark - the Union Line of Pickett's Charge.

Lunch: At the hotel.

Afternoon: Participants will learn about the clothing and equipment used by the Civil War soldier in a lecture/presentation.

Dinner: Participants will travel back to the Visitor center for a catered dinner to be followed by a behind the scenes look at the Gettysburg Cyclorama.

The Civilians of Gettysburg, Free Time, Civil War Music

Breakfast: Full breakfast buffet at the hotel.

Morning: This morning, we'll begin with a lecture on "The Civilians' Story," exploring the backstory and experience of civilians in Gettysburg at the time of the battle. This will be followed by a guided walk through town to see where this battle was experienced by the townspeople.

Lunch: Opportunity to explore local fare on your own. Many restaurants located in historic buildings with special features. Lists of places to eat are available to participants.

Afternoon: This afternoon enjoy some free time to explore the town of Gettysburg and the Military National Park.

Dinner: Social and special farewell dinner.

Evening: Meet a local renowned folk musician while he plays Civil War era music. He will discuss his handmade hammer dulcimer, the banjo, accordion and harmonica as he plays his musical selections.

Visit to the Shriver House Museum, Program Concludes
