Dinner: In our private meeting and dining room at the hotel, the dinner buffet offers a rotating menu each evening of salad, entrée, rolls/butter, dessert, and coffee, tea (iced/hot), and water; other beverages available for purchase.

Evening: Orientation. The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer questions. Travel and transfers will be via private motorcoach unless noted otherwise. Periods in the daily schedule designated as “Free time” and “At leisure” offer opportunities to do what you like and make your experience even more meaningful and memorable according to your personal preferences. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions. Program activities, schedules, personnel, and indicated distances or times may change due to local circumstances/conditions. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Get to know your fellow participants in a session we call Crossing Points and discover what you share beyond a love of lifelong learning. Then settle in and get a good night’s rest for the day ahead.

Reuben H. Fleet, Seals, Introduction to Balboa Park

Breakfast: In our private meeting and dining room, the daily breakfast buffet offers a variety of choices such as an egg dish, breakfast meat, hot/cold cereals, sliced and whole fruit, baked goods and sliced breads, milk, juices, coffee (regular/decaf), hot tea, and water.

Morning: We'll ride our private motorcoach to Balboa Park for visit to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. With exhibits to touch, virtual reality to experience, films to see and fun to be had, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is an educational, entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. Upon arrival at the Center, there will then be an exclusive group workshop, followed by a film at the Center's IMAX theater. At the conclusion of the Reuben H. Fleet experience, the coach will take the group to Seaport Village.

Lunch: At Seaport Village, a 14-acre waterfront complex with many restaurants.

Afternoon: Your afternoon will feature an adventure on the San Diego Seal Tour, which takes you through the most interesting sights in the city, then heads straight into the big bay without missing a beat. On the Seal Tour, every seat is a good one; it’s an open air tour vehicle that allows all guests to enjoy the tour with amazing views. The amphibious vehicles, driven by experienced captains, are specially designed and built to be used on land and water; each one is Coast Guard approved and meets all passenger vehicle and department of transportation requirements to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone on board. We'll then return to the hotel.

Dinner: Hotel buffet.

Evening: This evening focuses on the Courtyard's heated pool and spa for the kids and grandparents to enjoy.

Mission Bay Aquatic Center, Kayaking, Boogie Boarding

Breakfast: Hotel buffet.

Morning: We'll ride our private motorcoach to Mission Bay. Mission Bay Aquatic Center is a fully equipped aquatic recreational and educational facility that will be our playground for the morning. Experienced student instructors will provide a thorough training session on kayaks provided by the aquatic center for a fun-filled, nautical experience on San Diego's Mission Bay.

Lunch: Enjoy a boxed lunch at Mission Bay Aquatic Center.

Afternoon: The Pacific beckons and Mission Bay Aquatic Center is across the street from the ocean, so the afternoon will involve partaking in an iconic Southern California beach activity; boogie boarding! The center's expert staff will demonstrate the basics, go over the steps to best enjoy the sport, and be with the participants as they enjoy this easy and fun ocean experience. The motorcoach will then return to the hotel.

Dinner: Hotel buffet.

Evening: At leisure.

Breakfast: Hotel buffet.

Morning: We'll set out on our private motorcoach to the San Diego Zoo. Our visit will begin with an exclusive educational narrated bus tour of San Diego Zoo animal habitats. You may learn about the fundamentals of creating a green (ecologically friendly) environment at the zoo, animal health care, exhibit design, feeding, breeding and more. A personal educator will be ready to answer participants questions.

Lunch: The San Diego Zoo has many options for lunch or walk to the adjacent Balboa Park.

Afternoon: More San Diego Zoo A perfect opportunity this afternoon to explore one of the largest, most progressive zoos in the world with over 4,000 animals with more than 800 species. Exhibits are often designed around a particular habitat. The same exhibit features many different animals that can be side-by-side in the wild, along with their native horticulture. Exhibits range from the African rain forest (featuring gorillas) to the Arctic tiaga and tundra in the summertime (featuring polar bears). Some of the largest free-flight aviaries in existence are here. Many exhibits are "natural" within visible wires and darkened blinds (to view birds), and pools and open-air motes (for large mammals). The cool, sunny maritime climate is well suited to many plants and animals. The zoo maintains its grounds as an arboretum, with a rare plant collection. The zoo raises 40 varieties of bamboo for its pandas on long-term loan from China, and it maintains 18 varieties of eucalyptus trees to feed its koalas. At the conclusion of day's activities at the San Diego Zoo, the coach will return the group to the hotel.

Dinner: Hotel buffet.

Evening: This evening will feature an interactive presentation by a local expert on the gem found in the center of the city of San Diego known as Balboa Park. The expert will then prepare the group for their exciting adventure to the most visited "museum" in the Park; the San Diego Zoo.

Birch Aquarium, San Diego Maritime Museum, Belmont Park

Breakfast: Hotel buffet.

Morning: We'll ride our motorcoach to La Jolla for a private docent-guided tour at the Birch Aquarium. The mission of the Birch Aquarium at Scripps is to provide ocean science education, to interpret Scripps research, and to promote ocean conservation. The Aquarium provides ocean science education through creative exhibits, programs, and activities designed to help people use critical thinking, and to make science relevant to their daily lives. Scripps Institution of Oceanography research, emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of the science used to study earth, and inspires public support of scientific endeavors. It promotes conservation through education and research, in the belief that with increased understanding of the ocean, people will respect and protect the marine environment.

Lunch: We'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Next, the motorcoach will take the group to the harbor and the San Diego Maritime Museum.The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. You will have an exclusive docent tour of one of the world’s finest collections of historic ships, including the world’s oldest active ship the Star of India. Founded in 1948, the museum grew out of the earlier efforts of a group of local historians and maritime enthusiasts who acquired the sailing ship Star of India in 1927. Now fully restored, the Star of India is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and skilled craftsmen and sailed at least once a year. The museum’s collection also includes the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, the 1904 steam yacht Medea, the 1914 Pilot, the state’s official tall ship Californian -a replica of a mid 19th century revenue cutter, and the H.M.S Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award winning film: Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Upon leaving the Maritime Museum, the coach will proceed to Belmont Park for rides and dinner!

Dinner: Dinner at Belmont Park. You are free to explore the multitude of options. Our group leader will offer guidance and suggestions.

Evening: Belmont Park is a historic oceanfront amusement park located on Mission Beach. The park was developed by sugar magnate John D. Spreckels and opened on July 4, 1925. Its signature attraction was built in that year and remains the Big Dipper wooden roller coaster. In addition there are numerous casual restaurants and a great variety of amusements. Among them are a Tilt-A-Whirl, a three-story drop tower (the "Vertical Plunge"), the Liberty Carousel, an arcade, laser tag, Zip Line, mini-golf, climbing wall, Sky Ropes, FlowRider and FlowBarrel. The Coach will then return the group to the hotel.
