My wife and I met Barbara and Dennis Davis on a Road Scholar trip to Scotland (about five years ago). We have since participated in 5 or 6 other RS trips with them. We similarly attended this trip (to Campobello) with them. In one of the forms before the trip we indicated we would like to have our rooms near them. The Davis couple did likewise for us. -- We got to Campobello and found we were assigned to different buildings -- as we had jointly rented a single car this was quite inconvenient -- we always had to pick up the other couple at their building and later drop them off about a quarter mile away.

Hello Robert, We apologize that your request to be lodged near your friends was not met! We spoke with your Group Leader, Linda, and she is usually very careful when taking care of special requests, but yours unfortunately slipped through the cracks. She has assured us that this will not happen again. We love hearing stories of participants making lifelong friends on programs, and we hope that you, your wife and the Davises will join us on another learning adventure sometime soon. -Team Road Scholar

Excellent in depth program that provided intersecting cultural and environmental perspectives about the Roosevelts on Campobello. Much of the information was anecdotal, providing details that are obscure or unavailable through general information sources. Even the menu choices, some mirroring the Roosevelt's, added a depth of understanding about their time at Campobello. I would strongly recommend this program!

An excellent website with a lot of information to help you make the decision as to whether or not that particular program(s) were for you or not.

Go, Just go. If you are considering a visit to a site that includes mind-stretching, do the Roosevelt Campobello trip!

A well-orchestrated program with the perfect mix of education, field trips and free time. Everything from start to finish went smoothly, the program content was absorbing and fascinating, the Campobello International Park setting was lovely but the people: instructors, coordinator, presenters, park staff and fellow participants were the magic! My first program but certainly not my last! Thank you!

A great trip. The leads did a wonderful job of making this informative, fun and bringing the participants together. Great bunch of folks all around.

wonderful week in all ways...location, food, leaders, attendees. I enjoyed, learned and was inspired and encouraged to make a positive difference in our world.

The Campobello Island Introduction to the Roosevelts program we just completed is a joy! The island is so beautiful, surrounded by tempestuous tides, with tall trees, secluded walking trails, and clean, salty air. The food for this program was excellent, with hearty breakfasts and coffee available throughout the evenings. The instructors, Linda and Bob Godfrey, have planned carefully to make this program contain elements of Indian history, island history, and Roosevelt history. Our whale watch revealed two whale species, nesting eagles, bevies of cormorants, and several huge grey seals disporting themselves in the icy water of the Bay of Fundy. Overall, this was a wonderful program. I’d like to come back and spend the summer on Campobello.

This was a great program to learn about Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt and their life on Campobello. Campobello Island is a wonderful place, rich with culture and natural beauty. I truly enjoyed myself!

Exceptional program in an incredible environment, which only added to the feeling of comfort and openness to learning. I hope to take much of this back with me.

This trip has completed a “year of the Roosevelt’s” for me. Franklin’s Little White House in February, Hyde Park in June, and Campobello in October. The Campobello program is outstanding. The leaders, Linda, Bob, and Patricia were exceptional in every way. The speakers were very informative and interesting. Field trips were great as were the food and lodging!

Eleanor's Beloved Island became mine. This was a fascinating look at the Eleanor and Franklin and their island. Not only did we learn about them but the beautiful area that had such an impact on their lives, but we learned how life today was impacted about their accomplishments. Even if you think you know about Franklin and Eleanor, this is an experience to walk where they walked and delve into their lives. The island is beautiful. I felt renewed and refreshed after my days at Campobello.

This program is a journey. A journey of discovery of Campobello. A journey of courage and resilience of Eleanor and Franklin. A journey of inspiration for the people who now carry their legacy into the future.

What a remarkable week I spent learning about Eleanor Roosevelt. Linda Godfrey, our group leader, was very engaging and did a spectacular job bringing the group together with lots of supplemental material and wonderful stories. Kudos to Patricia for her organizational skills and welcoming nature. We arrived late and Patricia welcomed us with open arms and immediately made us feel at home. She also made sure that we were fed a warm meal. Our accommodations were amazing, What a thrill to live in Hubbard Cottage with spectacular views of the sunset. Lectures and field trips were well balanced, interesting and informative. Tea with Eleanor was very special thanks to our hostesses. A wonderful "first" experience with Road Scholar!

This was my first RS trip and it was the best trip! The subject matter,(The Roosevelts) Campobello Island, the accommodations, food and people who ran it were great!. The other visitors were wonderful! I'm taking another trip with some of the friends I met there.

The Campobello program, with it’s focus on Eleanor Roosevelt, is informative, interesting and is located in a beautiful setting amidst the pines, birches and firs on Campobello Island. It was so incredible to stay in the actual cottages of Campobello International Park. The food was excellent and all the people involved with the program were warm and friendly. Very nice experience.

An interesting program. Please don't be confused by the average temperature....we suffered a hot spell which for me distracted from the program.

I would encourage anyone interested in Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and their times to consider seriously this program. Being on Campobello Island, walking in the Roosevelts' footsteps, and staying in Victorian cottages is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

My husband and i thought we knew so much about the Roosevelt's, but learned so much more. The instruction was A plus, and Campobello is indeed a magical island. We look forward to returning.

We highly recommend this excellent program, Campobello Island and the Roosevelts. The island setting is stunning! The leaders were well informed, talented and exceptionally well organized. The speakers were very knowledgeable, stimulating and entertaining. Accommodations in the "cabins" were very comfortable, and the meals delicious. We were sad to leave.
