Just returned from the Horses & Canoes: Summer Camp in the Ozarks with your grandchild. It was a brilliant program and a delight to see the grandkids from different states and countries interacting so well, doing things for the first time and increasing their confidence. It certainly exceeded my expectations and I thoroughly recommend it as a way to spend time with your grandkids and see them flourish.

A wonderful program to bond with your grandchild, great variety of activities, wonderful leaders in Shannon and Big Dog. Both are very knowledgeable on many subjects and great with the entire group.

I had the time of my life on this trip....and I was the grandmother! The staff, the accommodations, the food, the amazing and diverse activities came together to make this one of my most memorable Road Scholar trips.

This grandparent and grandchildren trip is an excellent opportunity to spend with your grandchild. Both me and my grandaughter enjoyed a the activities and interactions with other gguests. The learning experience was both educational and fun. The leaders of our trip were enjoyable, pleasant, and knowledgable. Furthermore, the food was great and included such variety that everyone is able to find something to their liking.

If you are interested in an action-packed week exploring nature, this is the program for you! The agenda explores geology, water sports, hiking, small critters in the water, horses, and gigantic rocks for climbing. I'm thinking of bringing another grandchild to this program in the future.

This was a wonderful program. The leaders were great with the kids. My grandchild has to be gluten free and the kitchen went "above and beyond" to accommodate her dietary issues. The kids were kept busy with a wonderful variety of activities and the leaders understood children and worked great with them.

This program is lots of fun for both generations. It's essentially like going to camp with a interesting learning experience added. My 10 year old grandson and I had a good time together. Other kids and their grandparents were very friendly and that made for a great week.

Program 14633 YMCA Trout Lodge, Potosi MO. My grandson and I enjoyed our experience at Trout Lodge. The lodge is much like a hotel minus the distraction of TV in the rooms. Each room has a view of the lake. Meals are provided in a cafeteria with a child and adult offerings. The food was very good with plenty of variety. The staff was amazing, full of knowledge and skills to share. Any strenuous activity were optional. There is some walking with moderate change in elevation at Elephant Rocks. Getting in out out of the rafts can be a little tricky and may be necessary several times depending on the water level. You can also challenge yourself by climbing the 25 ft. zip line tower or climbing wall. Debbie & Andy are such skilled archery coaches you can get expect to shoot near the bullseye by your 5th arrow. The children are kept busy learning new skills and you are learning with them. It was a great experience for my grandson and me.

This program was a very positive experience for both my granddaughter and me, singly and together. The range of activities was more than we'd imagined, and the ability to try additional activities was also welcome. The group leader is a gem - enthusiastic, flexible, and genuine fun.

This was a fantastic Road Scholar Adventure with our 10 year old grandson! From the moment we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off, the staff at Trout Lodge were wonderful - friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, adaptable. The food was more than adequate and satisfying. No complaints there, at all. There was always a fresh salad bar and a special area for kid friendly selections - although they could use all sections when picking their dinner. Desserts were great. The facilities were clean from the lodge to the stable to the Nature Center....and I understand a 6 million dollar renovation is happening this fall! The lake was clean and cool and always staffed with friendly international lifeguards. So much to do - trail rides, hayrides, kayaking, paddle boarding, riding, riflery, archery, miniature golf, geology presentations followed by wire wrapping, ziplining, Alpine Tower and Swing, hikes to Galena Mine, gravel hunts for Druzy Quartz, movies, the Pirate Pontoon Wars (the best fun!), Elephant Rock State Park...such grand memories! We highly, highly recommend this Road Scholar Program!
