Excellent program. Best part was the outstanding tour guides we had at the Art Institute. Lovely historic hotel very near the Art Institute and in great location for seeing lots of downtown Chicago and the lake front parks. Very nice group. Excellent value.

I recently thoroughly enjoyed the Art Institute of Chicago (6 Days). The companion I was to travel with had to cancel due to illness, so I traveled as a single woman. I did not expect this trip to be so engaging and stimulating. It was a delightful "deep dive" into art - I look at art differently now! My fellow travelers were interesting, engaging and welcoming. Although I traveled "alone", I was never "lonely" or felt excluded. The accommodations, food and structure of the day and evening activities were excellent and well paced. I hope to travel with Road Scholar again soon.

This program is a must for art lovers and those persons never having been to Chicago. The hotel's location enabled seeing the downtown sights and the Museum in walking distance. The speakers were knowledgable and enthusiastic. I enjoyed meeting the participants from all over the United States .I would highly recommend this program.

If ART is one of your passions, this tour is not to be missed. It provided a concentrated look into Modern and Contemporary Art through the eyes of knowledgable docents and lecturers. It allowed us to be immersed in the Art Institute's vast collection, built through the support of donors and artists for over 100 years. The attendees were affable and made the trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend.

This trip was phenomenal. World class art historians and curators helped us to really see art works for the first time. Everyone at the museum was so friendly and helpful.I can't say enough about the people from the museum who really went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience. Everything was taken care of so that all we have to do was enjoy the art. The hotel and food were very good and so close to the museum. The public art and architecture tour was a lot of fun as well. I had never been to this museum before and it's now one of my favorites. The website with the guided tours was so well done. If you are interested in art, take this trip - you won't be disappointed. On another note, another thing I liked about this trip is that the lectures were at the location instead of traveling so far only to spend half a day on a lecture at the hotel when all you want to do is get out and see what we came to see. I would personally prefer to have lectures in the evening if they need to be at the hotel so that we can spend the day seeing what we came to see.

What perfect weather for an August program in Chicago! The location of the Palmer House made it easy for me to take a morning walk before the program at the Art Institute began. There was such a variety of art to explore! The writing exercise by Noel turned out to be a real bonus for me. All the group leaders were excited about their topics, kind and inclusive.

The Chicago Art Institute program was excellent. I hope to do a similar program at another museum if available.

This trip provided a marvelous learning experience about the Chicago Art Institute and all it has to offer and the opportunity of exploring Chicago on one's own.

Experience the Art Institute with trained (and interesting) lecturers telling you about the art, the artist and the history as you sit in front of the art! Experience the Palmer House with history of its own only two blocks from the Institute. Experience the food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner on this program!

This was a fun trip to Chicago to see the beautiful Art Institute of Chicago’s art collection, and indulge in foodie delights of the city. Great weather in September! Great collection of art and nice people leading and participating in the group. My one con is that our Road Scholar leaders ‘disappeared’ after orientation, and we were a group on our own! Many of us enjoyed discovering the city, but it would have been nice to have extra insight from the leaders! The Palmer Hotel was beautiful and the concierge was helpful, but it is not the same as having a guide make suggestions for our free time. I was disappointed. We did see the play “Tootsie” on our own and see a concert, and take a boat/walking tour, as well. Chicago is a great city!

This program offers a wonderful introduction to the Art Institute, with an day surveying the entire collection and the rest of the week focusing on a specific period. All tours and talks are by experienced museum employees, all knowledgeable art historians, and there is some scheduled free time to explore areas of individual interest. Accommodations at the storied Palmer House are just a block from the CAI and Millennium Park connected with the CAI by a skybridge, with easy access to Frank Geary's Pritzker Pavilion and Skygate, aka The Bean. If you like art and enjoy the pleasures of a major city, this is a superb program.

I'm a little late on this review because I have been traveling so much. All I can say is that I haven't stopped raving about it to all the other RS fellow travelers that I met on the next three tours I took after this one. The Palmer House was a perfect place to stay. I went to see Hamilton, right across the street on one of our free nights. The Art Institute sessions were just so informative and enriching. The docents did excellent presentations, although one that I was looking forward to was cancelled because the guide had a family emergency and no one else took his place. This was a fun experience and I sure got a chance to immerse myself in the art treasures. I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent program that presented the wonderful opportunity to fully explore the Art Institute of Chicago. Very well organized. Good balance of structured Road Scholar gallery talks, with opportunities to spend time wandering about the museum and attending other public gallery talks. The Palmer House is a wonderful historic hotel, with ties to the Art Institute. Excellent accommodations and food. Highly recommend this enjoyable and enriching program.

This is wonderful program if you are interested in The Chicago Institute of Art. It fulfilled my long time desire to visit the institute and the city of Chicago. I was not disappointed! The scheduled gallery talks were interesting and I found enough time to do the things that interested me.

The Treasures of the Art Institute of Chicago program was truly a Treasure. The museum has a extensive collection of art, spanning the history of mankind. Their expert historians were very knowledgeable and interesting. Their lectures added so much to the understanding and enjoyment of the paintings we studied. Carolyn M

This is an excellent program capitalizing upon the resources of the Art Institute. The version that we attended focusing upon Post-Impressionism, Modernism and Contemporary European and American art was especially a treat.
