Wonderful venue and experience. Everybody deserves a trip to the MIJF!

I recently returned from a Road Scholar trip to the Montreal International Jazz Festival. It was a fantastic program, well organized, fun and highly informative. The highlight was attending the three concerts for which we were given tickets, as well as the conversations with local jazz musicians before and after the concerts. The weather was perfect for the group tours and free time. I definitely would consider attending this festival again with Road Scholar!

The Montreal Jazz Festival is terrific - wonderful group leaders, demonstrations by very good musicians, and terrific people who signed up for the trip. I've gone several times to this jazz festival with Road Scholar, so I like it a lot.

Enjoyed meeting new friends and returning to Montreal where I went as a teenager. The leaders Kim and Andree were very helpful. Jennifer Bell is a delight and knows her craft with expertise. She is quite engaging and interacts well with the participants. Hotel food needs improvement as well as plated food at the Steak House where we had our Orientation dinner. Would enjoy more meals included in the package pricing at higher quality venues. Departure catered meal at the hotel was very sub-standard. The walking tours and local guides were excellent!!

The Montreal Jazz Festival is one of the best - lovely city, great music & guides, nice people. Have been there two or three times. I always discover fantasic musicians who I didn't know before I went. ---Natalie W., New York

In four nights and four days (basically), Road Scholar gave us an overview of Montréal, educated us on jazz, food, immigration and more. The balance of guided tours, free time, group meals vs. meals on one's own was excellent. The three choices of indoor concerts gave us a wide variety of music. The special short-term subject-matter experts were all excellent including two musicians, a behind-the-scenes-of-the-festival-tour, and a foodie tour through the lens of immigration history. Our “leaders” were two gracious, knowledgeable women. Merci to both of them for a great trip. So, you get the idea: it was the design, how the days were structured -- and the quality of the program within each of those days -- that won my heart.

Road Scholar's trip to the Montreal Jazz Fest was fantastic! The concerts we attended exceeded our expectations--beautiful indoor venues with seats that were close to the stage as well as interesting outdoor (free) concerts in a variety of venues. Time spent with Musician Jennifer Bell was a real highlight; she gave us cues about watching and listening to performances and then revisited earlier conversations to gauge our reactions and responses to the music. Canadians were very welcoming and slipped easily between English and French to accommodate all travelers. Old Montreal is beautiful and interesting, and the public transportation (which we learned to use during the RS Program) was easily accessible, clean, and safe. Our fellow travelers also were interesting, thoughtful, warm, and fun. We are eager to return to Montreal (albeit...not in the winter, which sounds challenging!) and are very glad that we chose to travel this time with Road Scholar.
