Afternoon: Arrive in Lanesboro and check into Cottage House Inn. Pick up Road Scholar packets from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. At 4:30 pm we will meet to attend a Norwegian traditional church supper.

Dinner: 5:00 pm - Dinner at a local church supper.

Evening: 7:00 pm: First class period, Welcome to Lanesboro and the Commonweal Theatre. Introductions, schedule review and background information on the history of the Commonweal Theatre.

Play Introduction and performance.

Breakfast: Breakfast at Cottage House Inn.

Morning: Classes will introduce you to the first play and explore the production process with the director and designers.

Lunch: Lunch in Lanesboro at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Actor's talk about their preparation and backgrounds. Receive a guided tour of the Commonweal Theatre. You will also have free time in the afternoon to explore Lanesboro. You may want to walk or bike the Root River State Trail which meanders amid 300-foot bluffs and along the peaceful Root River. The trail system boasts over 60 miles of paved surface. Bike rentals are readily available. Canoeing or Kayaking are also possible activities.

Dinner: Dinner in Lanesboro.

Evening: Attend the play about which you have been hearing all day. Then stay afterward for a talk-back by the actors.

Breakfast: Breakfast at Cottage House Inn.

Morning: Board the bus for a visit to a dairy farm where they make cheese curds and other cheese delicacies. Then tour a fish hatchery and learn about the fascinating process of restocking our MN lakes and streams.

Lunch: Lunch in Fountain, MN

Afternoon: Visit an environmental learning center and have a fascinating program on raptors. Then take an easy walk to view some lovely fall scenery.

Dinner: Dinner in Lanesboro.

Evening: The evening is free for you to just relax.

Morning: This morning you will begin getting information on the second play and learn a little more about life in Lanesboro.

Lunch: Lunch is on your own.

Afternoon: Continue conversations with the direction and design team of the second play. Enjoy additional free time and a social reception with all the Commonweal artists.

Dinner: Dinner at a Lanesboro restaurant.

Evening: Free time.

Morning: Classes on the Amish culture in southeastern Minnesota and the civic and community life in Lanesboro. Lanesboro is recognized as a model in the midwest because of its transformation from a declining town to a vibrant community with a diverse economy based on agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and the arts. Then listen to stories about the Amish side of Lanesboro and imagine living back in time where the horse and buggy still provide transportation and homes are lighted by kerosene lamps.

Lunch: Lunch at Lanesboro restaurant.

Afternoon: Hear about the Commonweal Apprenticeship program and visit with future theatre leaders in the program. Then meet the actors in the second production and gain insights into the acting process. Finally observe back-stage magic as sets are changed for the next production.

Dinner: Farewell dinner in local establishment.

Evening: See the second play and have an opportunity for questions following the performance.
