Go! You’ll be so glad you did.

On the 400 foot long Columbia ferry we traveled more than 2000 miles round-trip from Washington to Skagway and Sitka Alaska in back never going into the open ocean but always with land on both sides. The food was satisfying. Our rooms had large windows. The presentations were informative. If it was more than half empty, wonderfully roomy. There were many stops people boarded and departed here and there. A beautiful and dreamy journey.

Interesting and thorough program. The Ferry is a fun way to travel but the Ferry schedule means time in port is limited and/or at odd hours.

It was great having instructors--the ferry ride by itself was enjoyable, but our instructors multiplied the enjoyment and value of our trip.

The Alaska ferry cruise far exceeded my expectations. I had no interest in going on a cruise ship with 3,000 other people, and the small ships are very expensive. The berths were small, but adequate and with their own bath. Meals were excellent. The leaders offered 2-3 lectures, slide shows or videos daily. The leaders on tour guides were perfect. This is a wonderful trip for the price.

Exceeded expectations ... having a bus waiting for us when we departed the ship at several ports was not only welcoming but took us to places we never would have found on our own. Especially memorable were watching brown bears and salmon swimming upstream.

Road Scholar provided a wonderful way to see and experience history, current life and natural beauty in coastal Alaska. Pam Farley

I had an absolutely wonderful time, learned a lot, fulfilled a childhood dream of going to Alaska (i'm 78 now), loved traveling by ship and being at sea. I will seek other at-sea Road Scholar adventures! Enjoyed meeting new people.

This was our tenth road scholar and probable our best. The Alaskan trip was beyond my expectation. We saw the land , visited cities , and received history of Alaska that was interesting. I would and will recommend this same trip to others !

Traveling on the Alaska Marine Highway ferry was a great experience. It provided a way to see the beauty of the Alaska/Canadian Inside Passage and visit towns not readily accessible (e.g. the town of Sitka is a "must see").

The trip we took on the Alaskan Ferry Highway was awesome and very accurately described in the Road Scholar brochures.

This is an excellent experience, and Karen's leadership and educational input makes it a great program for someone who wants to learn something while traveling. I would rate the activity level "moderate," not "active."

2 days of moisture then sunny the rest of program allowing great viewing of snowcapped mountains, eagles almost everywhere, whales, and wildflowers.

Not too much activity. Times were awkward due to ferry's schedule. Top bunk was awkward to get into but I slept fine.

Great program! Very interesting and beautiful scenery, people and nature.. A shame about window-less cabins, which caused me claustrophobia.

Just returned from the Inside Passage on the Alaskan Ferry - we had three warm sunny days and only one day with a bit of light rain - truly amazing for this area!

The majesty of the scenery from the ferry is unmatched. Seeing Alaska this way has made me want to explore the interior on another RoadScholar trip.
