Road Scholar and Share The Care™ provide grants for caregivers
In honor of National Family Caregiver Month, not-for-profit Road Scholar is proud to team up with Share The Care™ to offer 10 Caregiver Grants to recipients who provide unpaid care to ill or disabled family members and friends.
The Road Scholar Caregiver Grant is an award of up to the $1,300 applied to the cost of a Road Scholar learning adventure in the U.S. or Canada. These grants provide financial assistance to enable unpaid family caregivers who are age 50 and older to experience Road Scholar’s enriching learning adventures. The intellectually inspiring and welcoming nature of Road Scholar’s programs provides much-needed relief from the emotional and physical demands of being a caregiver.
We believe it takes all of us working together to make a difference for caregivers.
How does it work?
Five grants will be awarded in each of two categories: Family Caregiver Grants and Share The Care™ Group Member Grants. The Share The Care™ Grant Committee will select grant recipients. Each grant winner will be awarded a Road Scholar Caregiver Grant of up to $1,300 to be applied to the cost of a Road Scholar learning adventure in the U.S. or Canada. Share the Care will only review completed applications and nominations that meet the criteria for eligibility. They will determine winners based on the entrant’s personal statement or nomination statement.
Who is eligible?
Applicants who are the primary unpaid caregiver providing daily care and support for a family member (spouse, parent, adult child, partner, sibling or close friend) are eligible for a Family Caregiver Grant. Individuals who are a member of a Share The Care™ group providing unpaid caregiving support for someone they know (friend, neighbor, relative, co-worker, partner or acquaintance) may be nominated by their group as deserving of a Share The Care™ Group Member Grant. All applicants must live in the United States and be 50 years of age or older. Learn more and apply through Share the Care™.
Share The Care™ is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of anyone who needs support and to reducing the stress, depression, isolation and economic hardship often experienced by their caregivers.
