BOSTON, April 7
— Road Scholar is pleased to offer Road
Scholar Teacher Awards to deserving educators
throughout the United States. Road Scholar is an initiative
of Elderhostel, the world’s largest not-for-profit educational
travel organization for adults. Road Scholar will offer Awards
of $7,000, $2,000 and $1,000 to winners of what is planned
as an annual award.
Road Scholar Teacher Awards will allow deserving, experienced
teachers to discover Road Scholar programs throughout the
United States and around the world. Road Scholar is designed
for adults of all ages.
Educators eligible for the awards include active teachers,
principals, superintendents, school nurses, school librarians
and guidance counselors with a minimum of 20 years’
experience in K-12 education. Educators at public, private
and charter schools throughout the United States can apply
for these awards. “Education has always been
at the core of our mission,” explained James A. Moses,
President and CEO of Road Scholar and Elderhostel. “Teachers
and other educators have long known the value of lifelong
learning. In fact, they make up a significant proportion of
our Elderhostelers. We have created these awards to recognize
the vital contributions educators and retired educators continue
to make every day.” |
In
2004, Elderhostel launched Road Scholar to meet the needs
of a new generation of independent educational travelers.
Elderhostel, founded in 1975, is the world’s largest
not-for-profit educational travel organization for older
people. More than 160,000 people enroll in Elderhostel’s
nearly 8,000 programs annually. Road Scholar—Learning,
It’s a Trip—provides exceptional educational
adventures throughout the United States and around the world.
