Dear Friend,
Can you imagine being in an olive grove in Tuscany learning
the secrets of the olive oil press from a sun-baked Tuscan
farmer? Or photographing the majestic landscape of Yosemite
with an assistant to Ansel Adams by your side, sharing his
expertise? Or experiencing the clean beauty of Scandinavian
design while discussing its elements of form and function
with textile designers in Finland?
Road Scholar adventures bring you to the heart of
these experiences, taking you beyond your imagination into
a world behind the scenes in which experts share their knowledge
and engage your mind. Road Scholars learn more than any traveler
could begin to discover on their own. |
Journey with Road Scholar
and learn about the ancient Maya from professor David W. Sedat,
who has been a field archaeologist in the Maya region for
more than 30 years. As the field director of the Early Copán
Acropolis Program at the Maya center of Copán, Honduras,
he shares his discovery of two royal
tombs buried deep in the Copán Acropolis.
Or go beyond what you may hear or read in the news, as Dr.
Madiha El Safty offers her insight into family life, culture
and politics in Egypt. A professor of sociology at the American
University in Cairo, Dr. El Safty lays a foundation for a
deeper understanding of what it means to be Egyptian in today’s
world. |
With Road Scholar, you learn from
experts like professor Sedat and Dr. El Safty. You also have
the experience and trust of Elderhostel behind you.
Elderhostel has been the nation’s not-for-profit leader
in lifelong learning for more than 30 years, and we created
Road Scholar for a new generation of educational travelers.
I hope you’ll join us.
With warm regards,
