Supporting Special Initiatives
is an Elderhostel Tradition
Generous individuals, foundations and corporations helped launch Elderhostel more than 30 years ago. Thanks to the commitment of these special supporters, our programs grew from a summer program offering classes on five New Hampshire college campuses to one that offers thousands of exciting programs worldwide to participants.
Gifts and grants of $10,000, $25,000, $100,000 and more — including an extraordinary gift of $1 million — have been a vote of confidence in the idea that older adults have limitless capacity to learn and grow.
Whether it’s supporting programs at retirement communities or funding listening devices, major gifts enable us to test new ideas and new directions as we build on the solid foundation established by our founders. We welcome unrestricted gifts that may be directed as needed and have many opportunities for those who prefer to direct their gift to support a special initiative.
Your Gift of $10,000 can:
Provide unrestricted support where it can be used where most needed
Enhance program participation for people with physical limitations
Invest in new Road Scholar programs Elderhostel develops to adapt to changing times and tastes
Underwrite research on lifelong learning
Underwrite development and marketing of a Day of Discovery program
Establish a Named Endowment fund or be added to an existing fund
The Benefits of Being a Major Donor
Major donors receive special recognition in Elderhostel’s annual report, special communications from Elderhostel’s President and recognition, when appropriate, at events and/or in published program materials. With a donation of $10,000 or more, donors are invited to join the President’s Circle.
