December-April is the best time for birding, larger herds of antelope, baby animals and lush landscapes. The climate is warmer and more humid, with the possibility of occasional showers. No programs operate during the heavy rain periods. May-October is the best time for big game viewing. May through August are cool and dry - in fact, quite cold at sunrise game drive time. This is peak season as game is abundant and climate is comfortable. In September it begins to get hot, with October and November becoming VERY hot in the middle of the day. But this time of the year has the least amount of water, which guarantees that animals are gathered at watering holes and come to the river. The first rain showers usually begin in November and until they do, it can be uncomfortably hot.

A wet suit is not required. If you want to bring one with you, you are more than welcome to. We do suggest you bring your own snorkel equipment (snorkel, mask, fins) to ensure proper fit and maximum comfort, although equipment will be provided for all.

The average temperature in Newberg, OR in September is 66 and in October is 55. If you do enroll in the program you can request a private bath and see if one is available at that time. The Tilikum Center has 13 rooms with attached private bathrooms and several rooms have private baths across the hall.

All meals will be at the hotel, the Clarion Hotel Historic District at their restaurant, Bourbon Street Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It will be a mix of buffet and plated meals.

It seems that we will be on the same trip. I'm flying direct from DFW on the start date. I spent almost three weeks in San Jose last summer, with some excursions into the country, and I loved it. I look forward to meeting the group.
