Road Scholar Social Network Terms of Use

We’ve created The Road Scholar Social Network as a social networking tool to help you connect with other members of the Road Scholar community, find out what your fellow participants have to say about programs and extend the love of lifelong learning beyond our programs and into your home.
We respect your privacy (see our Web Privacy Policy) and give you control over your information to the fullest extent possible.

What you agree to by joining and submitting information

By accessing, using or viewing Road Scholar’s social networking website, The Road Scholar Social Network, you grant Road Scholar a nonexclusive, unlimited right to copy and use anything that you submit to us, subject to your privacy and personal profile settings. Personal information you provide will be secured with industry standards and technology. By submitting any information to us, you agree that information is accurate and is not confidential. Prior to joining, you must decide for yourself the extent to which you wish to reveal information about yourself to the community of Road Scholar and you must agree not to reveal any information that could be harmful to you. Keep your password confidential, do not use other users’ accounts and do not let others use your account; you are responsible for anything that happens through your account. By joining you indemnify Road Scholar and hold us harmless from any damages, losses and costs caused by any content you submit or any activity in which you engage on our social networking website.

You choose what personal information you share

When you join The Road Scholar Social Network, you choose what biographical information to share with other users. You must decide for yourself the extent to which you wish to reveal information about yourself to the community and you must agree not to reveal any information that could be harmful to you. We will not sell or rent your name, address, email address or purchase history to any other person or company.

When you use The Road Scholar Social Network, you may set up your personal profile, form relationships, send messages, perform searches, join groups, participate in discussions and transmit information through various channels. Road Scholar reserves the right to collect this information so that we can provide you this service and offer personalized features.

How we use your information

When you join The Road Scholar Social Network, you create your own profile and privacy settings. Your profile information, as well as your name and photo, are displayed to other members of The Road Scholar Social Network or just your friends depending on your privacy settings. We use your profile information primarily to be presented back to and edited by you when you access The Road Scholar Social Network and to be presented to others permitted to view that information by your privacy settings. In some cases where your privacy settings permit it (e.g., posting to your profile), other Road Scholar Social Network users may be able to supplement your profile.

By posting information to The Road Scholar Social Network, you automatically grant to Road Scholar the non-exclusive right and license to reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, display and distribute your posts or materials associated with them on our website, in our catalogs and in other ways directed toward our participants. Road Scholar will endeavor to maintain the context of your post and to credit you properly. Road Scholar will obtain your permission prior to reprint your posts in any general advertising materials (such as magazine advertisements) other than those noted above. You also agree that other Road Scholar Social Network users may use, reproduce, transmit, view and access your postings for their personal use. Road Scholar will not be responsible for any use that any other participant makes of your posts.

About discussions on The Road Scholar Social Network

The Road Scholar Social Network’s profile, group and program pages are designed to promote the kind of stimulating dialogue among participants that is a hallmark of the Road Scholar experience. We invite you to share your program experiences, to ask questions about programs you’re considering, to find roommates or people to share a ride with for upcoming programs, and to take part in conversations with other members of The Road Scholar Social Network. As with any discussion board or other public forum, postings may or may not be true, and Road Scholar will not generally edit postings for content, style or errors. (However, Road Scholar reserves the right to edit posts for reasons including but not limited to removing offensive material and correct the spelling of the word ‘Road Scholar’ or other words or phrases trademarked or commonly used by Road Scholar.) Road Scholar will from time to time participate in discussions by posting messages intended to stimulate discussion, clarify misunderstandings, respond to a question or concern, or otherwise comment on a posting. With the exception of postings clearly identified as coming from Road Scholar, the opinions expressed on Road Scholar discussion boards reflect the opinions of the participants and not of Road Scholar.
