Triumph Over the Odds: The People of South Louisiana

South Louisiana's history is one of resilience, survival, and triumph over the odds. The largest ethnic group, the Cajuns, are descendants of French-speaking Acadians brutally exiled from Canada in the 18th Century who eventually found a home in South Louisiana and thrived. The mixture of other immigrants over generations created a uniquely vibrant culture. Despite natural disasters including hurricanes and the worst oil spill in history, the people never give up, overcoming life's challenges from mundane to epic with humor and a zest for living. Join us to learn their stories.
