Downhill Skiing in Historic Crested Butte

A quaint, old mining town in southwest Colorado, Crested Butte is one of the state’s best-kept secrets. Nearly 1,200 acres of groomed powder lie within the Gunnison National Forest and the Elk Mountain Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Crested Butte receives an average of 300 inches of snow per year and has more than 50 percent of its trails marked for intermediate skiers. On the slopes, skiing experts discuss avalanche awareness, winter weather in the Rockies and share tips to improve your skiing technique.
