“Feeling at one with the water” is how enthusiasts describe the singular sensations of kayaking. Experience this tranquility for yourself, paddling a pristine lake as dawn’s rising mist reveals reflections of autumnal trees and your own smiling visage. Before venturing onto the lake, instruction begins in the calm lee of the boathouse. Once you are familiar with the equipment and how to use it safely, learn techniques for maneuvering your craft on flat water and tips for paddling in flowing rivers. On a full-day journey on Sagamore Lake, listen to the babbling sounds of your kayak remind you of the Vanderbilts, movie stars and dignitaries who paddled these waters. An evening of traditional Adirondack entertainment caps your adventure.

Kayaking 1–6 miles at an altitude of about 2,000 feet. Flat-water kayaking on lakes large enough to experience choppy water in high winds. Participants should be able to swim. Feel free to bring your own kayak, paddle, PFD although all equipment is included.
