Experience the diverse cultural and scientific resources of Cornell University and its home city of Ithaca. Begin with early morning birds at Sapsucker Woods Laboratory of Ornithology, then go onto campus for lunch at the Statler Hotel School, an exploration of Sage Chapel and a look at the Johnson Museum of Art. Journey along both sides of beautiful Cayuga Lake to waterfalls and wineries, go behind the scenes at Cornell's Paleontological Research Institute and visit MacKenzie-Childs and the antique shops of quaint Aurora. See for yourself why "Ithaca is Gorges" at Taughannock Falls and the suspension bridge over Fall Creek, then round out your experience with a lecture about university founder Ezra Cornell and a dinner cruise on the lake.
Program in association with Watson Homestead Conference and Retreat Center.
Ithaca
“Ithaca is Gorges,” reads the ubiquitous bumper sticker found on cars around this college town (technically a city of 30,000) on the shores of Cayuga Lake. The fame of the deep, scenic gorges that cut through its hills, often creating waterfalls, is topped only by its reputation as the home of Cornell University, a member of the Ivy League.
