The writing, art, architecture and technical expertise of the pre-Columbian Maya have amazed anthropologists since the ancient civilization’s rediscovery in the mid-19th century. The Maya live on today in communities throughout Mexico, adding a valuable living element to the wealth of archaeological evidence of their millennia-old society. On a journey through history, explore the most famous Mayan strongholds of southeast Mexico as you encounter ancient cities, colonial architecture, and jungle flora and fauna.
