Learn why American independence was born in Massachusetts! Lectures, multimedia programs, and field trips make each day a vivid encounter with the past. In Boston's historic center, you'll see its remarkable growth over nearly 400 years. Walk much of the Freedom Trail, viewing colonial burial grounds, churches, and the site of the Boston Massacre. Visit Paul Revere's House, the Old North Church, and Faneuil Hall, "Cradle of Liberty." Climb Bunker Hill, see the USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides"), and much more. And ride past Washington's first headquarters, following the route of the British soldiers through the countryside to Lexington and Concord, and visit the site of "the shot heard 'round the world."
Up to 3 miles of leisurely walking on smooth and cobblestone streets; some use of public transportation most days.
Program in association with Humanities International.
