Experience the diversity of Chihuahua! From its multiple ecosystems to its natural history to its people, you will explore the variety of Mexico’s largest state. Reflect over the glittering magnitude of the Barrancas del Cobre (Copper Canyon) as Chihuahua’s Al Pacifico Railway brings you to an elevation of 8,000 feet. Discover the region’s geologic wonders as you hike in the mountains. Study the magnificent flora and fauna with your interpretive program leader as you pass through the vast Chihuahuan Desert via coach. You will get to know the Mexican people through sharing a home hosted meal, comparing the handiwork and customs of the native Tarahumara people, and discussing the history of the largest Mennonite colony in Mexico.
Some walking on unpaved paths and uneven ground. Additional optional hikes. Valid passport required for entry into Mexico.
Program in association with Davis Mountain Education Center.
