Immerse yourself in hot and cold glassworking! You will divide 20 studio hours between furnace working, flameworking, and cold working. Highly qualified glassmakers instruct and help you create beautiful glass objects. At the furnace, you will work with molten glass to fashion paperweights, flowers and vessels. Using the basics of flameworking, you will make beads and small scale sculpture at the torch. In the kiln shop, you will create layered and fused jewelry pieces, small slumped projects and other decorative creations and learn to sandblast glass. Also: demonstrations by master glass artists, historic walking tour, museum lectures and browsing through 3500 years of glass! Running since 1998, this program has over 700 happy alumni!
Walking and/or standing for up to one hour at a time during field trips and gallery visits. Wheelchairs, walkers and/or folding chairs can be accommodated.
