Join other hearty, enthusiastic participants as we explore a remarkable variety of scenic trails. Follow the paths of the Cahuilla Indians and explorers through exotic hills and canyons. Experience abundant natural beauty of palm oases, running streams, abundant birds, desert wildlife and plants. Destinations include the Indian Canyons, the Thousand Palms Oasis (famous movie setting), Joshua Tree National Park and the Eisenhower Peak Trail. This program includes a visit to the Living Desert Wildlife & Botanical Park. Experienced guides lead this program. Lectures on the area's rich history round out your week.



Moderate to strenuous hikes. Up to 5 miles each day over dirt and/or rocky terrain. Up to 500 feet elevation gain/loss.

This program will be based in Desert Hot Springs instead of Palm Springs. Comfortable hotel/spa with spectacular mountain and desert scenery; spacious rooms, eight mineral water therapy pools, large swimming pool, sauna, two restuarants, lounge and full service spa. PS Airport shuttle is not available.




Program in association with Center for Extended Learning for Seniors (CELS).



Airports: Palm Springs - 12 miles from DHS/3.5 from Holiday; Ontario - 60 miles; LAX - 110 miles, commercial shuttles available at your own expense.

Originally a recreational oasis for Hollywood’s famous, Palm Springs is still an indulgent getaway a hundred years later. The desert town, surrounded by breathtaking canyons and natural hot mineral springs, offers 125 golf courses, tennis, hiking and the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies all within a two-hour drive of Los Angeles.



Desert Hot Springs

Built on one of the world's finest natural hot water aquifers, Desert Hot Springs offers an abundance of outdoor activities. The magnificent Coachella Valley also encompasses Joshua Tree National Monument, the legendary Indian Canyons and a multitude of unique geological and living desert wonders.
