The Dynamics of Faith

Study the multiple meanings of the word “faith” and a cluster of other words related to it. With an instructor who has taught courses on faith at the university level, explore the core elements of the topic in various faiths, and discuss problematic issues like doubt and others of particular interest to you.



The Idea of the Devil

Examine the concept of evil and its personification in the form of the Devil. Begin with ancient cultures such as the Egyptians and Persians and progress to ancient Israel and Christianity.



The Origins of Buddhism

In a historical and cultural survey of the Buddhist religion as it developed in ancient India, encounter important Buddhist doctrines, philosophies, ritual practices and forms of devotion. Learn how the central concerns of Buddhism have shifted over time as you read primary texts in translation.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: REGISTRATION, ice breaker, meeting new people, and getting ready for a week of wonderful programs and activities!
(Sunday, February 1)
   
 Afternoon: REGISTRATION will begin at 4:00 pm in the Tiki Room (downstairs). Once everyone has registered we will do a get acquainted session to get everyone up, moving, and meeting new people. After registration and the get acquainted session - we will have our opening banquet upstairs in Trader's Restaurant. After dinner we will go back downstairs and have our orientation.
 Dinner: Opening banquet will be held in Trader's Restaurant.
 Evening: ORIENTATION will be held at approximately 7:00 pm. We will go over the contents of the program folder and schedule for the week. The Professors (if they are available) will speak for a few minutes and get everyone affiliated with the week's programs. The rest of the evening is yours to get settled, relax, and get you ready for a week of wonderful programming.

Day 2: Classroom learning with wonderful professors or instructors.
(Monday, February 2)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast will be served in Trader's Restaurant.
 Morning: Your classes for the day will be "The Dynamics of Faith", "The Idea of the devil", and "The Origins of Buddhism". Please check your schedule for the classes you will be enjoying this morning, afternoon, and possibly in the evening. Remember to bring a sweater as the classrooms are normally chilly. This is subject to change according to our instructors schedules.
 Lunch: Lunch will be enjoyed in Trader's Restaurant. Please inform us of any dietary needs you might have. Thank you!
 Afternoon: Your afternoon schedule will be based on our instructor's schedules. If they can only teach in the afternoon than you will have an academic class in the afternoon. There are some instructors that can only teach in the evenings. If this is the case than you will have your afternoons free to enjoy the beach and the surrounding areas and have an academic class in the evening after dinner.

 Lunch: Closing lunch and graduation will be in Trader's Restaurant.
