Nestled in the heart of the Victorian town of Breckenridge, attend a world-class summer music festival while learning what it takes to produce an event of this caliber. Go behind the scenes with conductor, Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann, attend daily interactive educational seminars with the musicians, and ask questions of production and administrative staff.

Elevations of 9,600 feet; walking on sidewalks, gravel paths, some uneven terrain from three blocks up to one mile a day; climb and descend steps at venues.

Maestro Zimmerman

Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann is in his third season as director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Texas at Austin, Butler School of Music. He is in his 28th season as music director and conductor of the Canton (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, and returns to the Breckenridge Music Festival as music director and principal conductor. Zimmermann's energetic and vibrant performances have drawn invitations to appear with orchestras in Cleveland, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and other cities.

  Description: Generally Road Scholar participants will stay at various condominiums within lodges in close proximity to the central performance venue, in two-bedroom, two-bathroom units. Participants will share a kitchen and living space with another couple or single participant (s). Couples will be accommodated in rooms with either a king or queen bed. Singles will be accommodated two to a bedroom with two single beds unless a single participant has requested and paid for a private bedroom and bathroom. The condominium units are privately owned so each is unique. Each condominium has a living room with gas-burning fireplace, and a complete kitchen stocked with cooking and eating utensils as well as a microwave oven. At check in, participants receive their condominium keys and lodging information packets and if they are traveling by Colorado Mountain Express, the van driver will take them to their condominium unit. Bathroom: Each couple will have their own bathroom. Two singles who share a bedroom (double occupancy) will also share a bathroom. If a single participant has requested and paid for a private bedroom (single occupancy) he/she will also have a private bathroom. Elevators: There are elevators in most condominium complexes.

  Facility amenities: The Town of Breckenridge is a resort town. The condominium units that Road Scholar participants stay in are typically mid-to-high-end condos that are fully furnished with clothes washing/drying facilities and exercise rooms available in the condominium complexes. The condominium complexes are typically central to the town center and only a few blocks from the performance venues.

  Additional nights prior: $100-150 p/n when available Upon request, the program provider Breckenridge Music Festival, will make recommendations for lodging for additional nights either before or after the program. It is the responsibility of the participant to make the reservations if additional nights are desired. The cost of additional nights lodging is not included in the RS program cost.

  Additional nights after: $100-150 p/n when available Upon request, the program provider Breckenridge Music Festival, will make recommendations for lodging for additional nights either before or after the program.   From the East (Denver) Take Interstate 70 West to exit #203, Frisco, CO (approximately 70 miles). Upon exiting, take Highway 9 South to Breckenridge (approximately 12 miles). Registration/check in at the Riverwalk Center (performance venue) at 150 W. Adams, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
  From the West (Grand Junction, CO) Take Interstate 70 East to exit #203, Frisco CO (approximately 168 miles). Upon exiting, take Highway 9 South to Breckenridge (approximately 12 miles). Registration/check in at the Riverwalk Center (performance venue) at 150 W. Adams, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
