Begin your adventure by discovering a true wonder of nature and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Iguazu Falls. The falls span 1.7 miles on the Iguazu River, which forms the border between Brazil and Argentina in this region, and tumble from as high as 269 feet — 100 feet taller than Niagara Falls.

Days 2-3: Arrival Puerto Iguazu (Argentina):

Arrive in Puerto Iguazu on the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls, which sits on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Your first night is spent meeting your fellow participants, enjoying a welcome dinner and discussing the next day’s activities. With your Road Scholar group leader, set out on a full-day field trip to explore Iguazu Falls from the Argentinian side. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the falls. Lodging: Resort hotel near Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side.

Travel Details
  Start of Program:
This program begins in the late afternoon on Day 2 at the orientation at the hotel. You will be staying at Hotel Amerian Portal del Iguazu that night.
  End of Program:
This program ends on Day 4 after breakfast at the hotel. You will be staying at Hotel Amerian Portal del Iguazu the night before.
  Required documents:
The Participant Information Form is required. IMPORTANT: Argentina has an entry reciprocity fee for US Citizens. This tax must be paid online prior to entry into Argentina by credit card. The amount is USD160 and is not included in your program cost. The entry fee is valid for multiple entries into Argentina for up to 10 years, or until your passport expires. Currently this fee has not been collected for over-land crossings, but this can be instated by the Argentine Government at any time without notice. To pay this fee online, please follow these directions: 1. Register at and obtain an entry code. You will need to register a username, password, email address, passport information, phone and date of birth. 2. Complete the form including personal and credit card details. This information and the entry code will be sent electronically to the Argentine Government. 3. After payment is processed, print the receipt. 4. Upon arrival in Argentina, the receipt will be scanned by passport control staff and the data will be validated to enable entry to Argentina. It is very important that you remember to print and bring your receipt.

  Transportation to site: All participants who purchased their air travel through Road Scholar Travel Services arriving on the program start date, will be met at the airport and provided with a transfer to the program hotel. Taxis will be readily available at the airport for participants arriving independently.
  From End of Program
  Location: Iguazu Falls
  Transportation from site: All participants who are continuing on to the main program #21169 will be transferred from the hotel to the airport at the end of the program.

 Arrive To: Flights arrive in Iguazu Falls. Check into the hotel in Iguazu.
 Afternoon: After checking in to the hotel, delve into the Guira Oga, the Argentine Bird park in Iguazu Falls. These acres of reserved subtropical forest are home to many species of birds. Your group leader and local guide are expert birders with a wealth of knowledge to share.
 Dinner: Meet your group leader for the program orientation and welcome dinner.

Day 3: Iguazu Falls
(Wednesday, October 15)
 Breakfast: At the hotel.
 Morning: Today you will spend a full day exploring Iguazu Falls (from the Argentinian side).

 Afternoon: Exploration of Iguazu Falls continues.
 Dinner: At the hotel.

Day 4: Depart Iguazu for Main Program

 Depart From: Take a morning flight from Iguazu Falls (Argentina) to arrive on site for the start of your main program.
