Join bridge enthusiasts from around the United States for a transatlantic voyage immersing you in expert bridge instruction and play. Aboard the elegant Norwegian Star, examine strategy and the flair of tournament play each morning then join new friends for genial hands of bridge each afternoon. Begin in cosmopolitan Copenhagen and make port stops in the Azores and the U.S. Virgin Islands en route to Miami.

Day 1: Overnight flight from the U.S.A.


Days 2-3: Arrival Copenhagen (Denmark) / embark Norwegian Star:

An expert-led excursion in Denmark’s enchanting capital includes City Hall Square and the famous Little Mermaid statue. Venture out of the city to visit the outstanding Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Continue to Den Internationale Hojskole, a renowned center for international learning, where you interact with students and savor a traditional Danish lunch. Lodging: Comfortable hotel.



Days 4-13: At Sea / São Miguel Island (Azores) / At Sea:

Onboard the ship, enjoy bridge lessons and games with your fellow players as you cross the ocean in style. During your free time onboard a world of incredible activities, dining and entertainment options are yours to explore. On Day 8 of the program, take a break from life at sea during a shore excursion on the largest and most populous island in the Azores, São Miguel. On this emerald-colored island, visit the spectacular Terra Nostra Garden and the natural hot springs. Enjoy a lunch of traditional cozido stew cooked by volcanic steam!



Day 14: Saint Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands):

Sail into breathtaking Charlotte Amalie Harbor then go ashore to experience an island culture that blends African and Danish and other European influences. Join a local expert to trace Saint Thomas’s history as you visit different neighborhoods and take in spectacular views of neighboring islands.



Days 15-17: At Sea / Miami, Fla. / disembark / departure


Norwegian Star

Launched in 1998 and fully refurbished in 2008, this 881-foot ocean liner can accommodate up to 2,018 passengers. Its 13 passenger decks boast elegant, Asian-inspired decor. Amenities include two main dining rooms and many other dining options, two swimming pools, hot tubs, spa and fitness center, walking track, art gallery, library and more.

This program starts at 6:00 pm with the program orientation at the hotel. You will be staying at Scandic Copenhagen that night.
  End of Program:
This program ends upon disembarking the ship. All guests must disembark the ship before 10:00 am. You will be staying at Norwegian Star the night before.

Day 3: Copenhagen / Embark Norwegian Star
(Monday, October 6)

Note: Please note today's activities involve walking in a museum and standing for periods of time.



   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel
 Morning: Join your Study Leader for a brief exploration of Denmarks' enchanting capital city by coach, including a stop to see the the famous Little Mermaid statue. Then travel to Humlebaek to discover the Louisana Museum of Modern Art. The museum’s permanent collection includes more than 3000 works and is one of the largest in Scandinavia. Pause in Helsingør (Elsinore) for a view of Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet.
 Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
 Afternoon: Transfer to the port to embark Norwegian Star for 14 nights. The ship is scheduled to depart at 5:00 pm.
 Dinner: Group dinner on board the ship.

Day 8: Ponta Delgada, Azores
(Saturday, October 11)

Note: Please note today's activities involve walking over uneven terrain including stairs and nature paths.



   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at leisure on board the ship.
 Morning: The ship is scheduled to arrive in Ponta Delgada at 8:00 am. Disembark the ship and depart by coach via the seafront to the hot springs located in the Furnas Valley- a natural source of mineral and thermal water, and one of the most interesting natural phenomenoms on the islands. Next, visit the unforgettable Terra Nostra Park, with its remarkable subtropical flora.
 Lunch: Enjoy a "cozido" lunch featuring a rich meat and vegetable stew boiled underground in a huge pot for between five and seven hours
 Afternoon: After lunch, return to Ponta Delgada by the north road, passing Gorreana tea plantation and Santa Iria Belvedere.
 Dinner: Group dinner on board the ship.

Day 14: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
(Friday, October 17)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at leisure on board the ship.
 Morning: Disembark the ship in St. Thomas for an introduction to Caribbean culture. Learn about the statistics, politics, geography, flora and fauna and the blend of African, European and Danish history influencing the island. On this panoramic visit you will pass by the Emancipation Garden, Frenchtown, German headquarters, historical churches, and University of the Virgin. Enjoy stunning views of St. John, Tortola, St. Croix, Puerto Rico, and many cays and islets. Your local guide will make the history come alive as he covers the chronology of events that brought the island to the present.
 Lunch: Return to the ship for lunch.
