Expert presentations paint an intricate portrait of Amish and Mennonite culture including a special look at their unique holiday customs. Meet Amish and Mennonite people on a countryside excursion, in an Amish School, during a baking demonstration led by true Old Order Amish, and in local countryside shoppes. Pick up your Christmas stocking at the beginning of your adventure to fill with artisan goodies!

Nappanee

Nappanee is the center of one of the largest Amish settlements in the United States. Built on the rich heritage of the woodworking industry, the railroad and Amish culture, the city houses nearly 2,500 Old Order Amish who live, work and interact with residents and visitors.

A resident of the Nappanee region for nearly 30 years, Becky Cappert has worked as the director of programming at Amish Acres for more than a decade. She enjoys sharing the festivities, heritage and traditions of the Amish with Road Scholar participants.

 Afternoon: Guests may check-in to The Inn at Amish Acres after 3:00 p.m. Meet the Road Scholar Program Director at a 4:00 Welcome Reception. Receive itinerary and information and get to know other participants.
 Dinner: Enjoy a dinner prepared by Amish Acres Staff.
 Evening: Introduction, Overview and get acquainted

Day 2: Amish Adventure Lecture/Holiday Baking, Countryside Tour/Haystack Meal/Evening Entertainment
(Wednesday, December 3)
   
 Breakfast: Enjoy an expanded continental breakfast in The Geranium Room at The Inn at Amish Acres.
 Morning: Stimulating lecture with question and answer session
 Lunch: Delicious lunch at the Amish Acres Century Old Restaurant Barn.
 Afternoon: Join our Amish cooks in one of Indiana's largest kitchens to make your own holiday creation, then enjoy a countryside tour along the backroads of Nappanee. Afterwards, there will be free time for shopping in one of our 8 shops, explore the downtown shops, or simply enjoy an afternoon on the porch.
 Dinner: Enjoy a special dinner prepared just for Road Scholar participants.
 Evening: Enjoy evening entertainment. Always a hit and something you won't want to miss!
