Follow the path of Fred Waring — “the man who taught America how to sing” — in the village where he and his music became national icons. This focused and fun choral music workshop is based at the Shawnee Playhouse, where Waring’s famous radio show was broadcast throughout the 1950s and where the original Fred Waring Choral Workshop began. As you learn and rehearse music we will perform in a concert finale to the program, gain an appreciation for what it takes to mold individual voices into a blended choral sound and what goes into organizing, producing and directing a public performance.

Highlights

• Learn, rehearse, and perform a variety of choral pieces including standards, sacred music, and musical theater.
• In Shawnee, meet people who knew Fred Waring and explore places he lived and worked, including the Shawnee Presbyterian Church where he worshipped and is buried.
• Explore the Delaware Water Gap and become familiar with the culture and history of the area.
