In this multicultural experience, learn how China’s neighboring countries — Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam — were influenced by her culture and how they incorporated it into their own civilizations. With foreign nationals and an American Foreign Service diplomat, gain an understanding and appreciation of the heritage and history of these different nations and peoples. During a field trip to Guang Ming Buddhist Temple, encounter the religious beliefs of a majority of Asian cultures from the spiritual leader, and enjoy other highlights such as invigorating Tai Chi each morning, entertainment and presentations each evening by ethnic artisans and performers, and a multicultural feast to give you a taste of a variety of Asian cuisines.

Day 2: Ancient and Modern History and culture of China.
(Monday, February 10)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast buffet @ restaurant
 Morning: Body/mind meditation exercises. - Overview of China: The Long and Unbroken Historical Development of the Chinese Civilizations, facts, and statistics. National identity and origin, ethnic groups, distinctive language, customs, and culture.
 Lunch: Lunch @ restaurant
 Afternoon: Continuation of China: Turbulent 1800's, Cultural Revolution and communist era with formation of PRC in 1949, and the dramatic rapid growth and changes in contemporary China today.
 Dinner: Dinner @ restaurant
 Evening: Cultural program: Drama/war film based on true events in China (1937-1945).

Day 3: Religion, Buddhism, traditional Dim-Sum lunch and tour of the Buddhist Monastery.
(Tuesday, February 11)

 Morning: Body and mind meditation exercises. - Exploration/discussion of Religion and philosophical thoughts: Taoism, Confucianism with special emphasis on Buddhism.
 Lunch: Bus to Ming Court for delectable Dim Sum lunch.
 Afternoon: After Dim Sum lunch, bus to a Theravada Buddhist Monastery: Wat Florida Dhammaram. Visit with the Monk. Explore the 4 sacred pilgrimage sites on property used for meditation, reflection, education, and study.
 Dinner: Dinner at Restaurant
 Evening: Cultural program: Documentary film on the plights of the Chinese migrants (mass migration)

Day 4: Ancient and modern history of Japan, Japanese culture, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Asian/Chinese music, world problems and solutions.
(Wednesday, February 12)
   
 Breakfast: Breakfast at the restaurant
 Morning: Body and Mind exercises. - Introduction of ancient and modern Japan from the feudal period to the new modern era, plus Japanese language, traditions, and culture.
 Lunch: Lunch is at the restaurant.
 Afternoon: Performance of Asian/Chinese music played by Chinese professional musicians on ancient Chinese musical instruments. This will be followed by presentation on traditional Chinese medicine by acupuncture physician, and herbalist.
 Dinner: Dinner at restaurant
 Evening: Rapid global growth and natural disasters creates global problems. Explore global environmental problems and possible solutions.

Day 5: History and culture of Thailand, history and culture of Vietnam and multi - cultural dinner.

 Morning: Body and mind meditation exercises. - Class lecture on SE Asia, history and culture of Thailand, plus philosophy of Thai cooking with demonstration of traditional art of vegetable and fruit carving.
 Lunch: Lunch is at the restaurant
 Afternoon: Presentation on the Dynastic colonialism, and modern history of Vietnam, including her rich heritage and culture.
 Dinner: Bus to a Chinese cooking demonstration and a "taste of Asia" at the multi - cultural dinner banquet at Ming Court.
 Evening: Free evening.
