Learn to make the challenging shots you see from professional golfers as our teaching pros prepare you for 9 holes of golf each afternoon. In small groups, learn to manage your game from deep in the sand, behind the trees, or even in a fairway bunker; from the flop shot over a hazard, to the ball being above or below your feet. Gain the skill, experience and perspective to lower your score.




Highlights

Learn from PGA and LPGA pros with shots you may encounter in normal play, tweak your swing with advice from the pros using our computerized golf simulator; and take a video analysis of your swing home with you.
Learn how to utilize the same club to obtain different shots and distances.
Play nine holes each afternoon on one of two courses.

Driving Directions
  From I-95 North Turn right off ramp. Turn left at Indigo Dr. Turn left at direction sign. Hotel is 1/2 mile on right.
  From I-95 South - exit 261A Turn right off ramp. Turn left at 2nd light (Indigo Dr.). Turn left at Direction sign. Hotel is 1/2 mile on right.
Equipment Requirements: Golf Clubs, Proper Golf Attire, Soft Spike Golf Shoes Rental clubs available at additional charge. Arrangements for rental clubs must be done prior to attending the program. Call the pro shop at 386-756-0040 to make those arrangements. Be sure to tell them you are with the Stetson University Road Scholar Program. All prices are subject to change.

Daily Schedule

Day 1: WELCOME, Registration, get acquainted session, opening banquet, and orientation.
(Sunday, March 23)
   
 Afternoon: Welcome! REGISTRATION will begin at 4:00 pm in the Plantation room. (Plantation Room is through the hotel lobby and next to the pool.) Once everyone is registered we will begin our get acquainted session. This activity just gets everyone up moving and meeting/talking with your new friends. Once we introduce ourselves we will have our opening banquet and orientation. Orientation is where we will get our folder of information. This includes the schedule of everyday and any planned activities.
 Dinner: OPENING BANQUET - Your opening banquet will be served in the Plantation room. There will be a variety of great food to choose from. If you have any dietary needs, please let us know on your PIF forms.
 Evening: ORIENTATION: After your opening banquet we will have our orientation and the host/hostess will go over the daily schedule with you and go over any other questions you might have for the group.

Day 2: Work on the golf simulator. Afternoon 9 holes of golf.
(Monday, March 24)
   
 Breakfast: In the Plantation Room
 Morning: You will start your morning out with a visit to our golf simulator where our golf professionals will analyze and video your swing as a starting point of improving your game. Then you will learn to reaffirm your fundamentals of your swing to achieve the consistency that you desire. How to take your game from the range to the course. "Know your Routine" so you can practice what you play and play what you practice.
 Lunch: You will order off the menu at the Pelican Bay Club House.
 Afternoon: Each afternoon you will play nine holes of golf and our pros will travel amongst the groups for more guidance based on your morning instruction and other valuable on course information...
 Dinner: In the Plantation Room at the hotel. Dinner will be served.
 Evening: We try and arrange for evening entertainment at the hotel for 7:00 p.m. in the Plantation Room. If there is no entertainment available, the evening is yours to relax, settle in, and get some rest.

Day 3: Work on Chipping, pitching, and sand shots. Don't forget to practice, practice, practice. Another 9 holes in the afternoon.
(Tuesday, March 25)
   
 Breakfast: In the Plantation Room
 Morning: Short Game Power Hour: Chipping, Pitching, and sand shots. Understand that any variety of shots will lower your score. Learn to use your imagination and different clubs to hit from tricky situations including a "flop shot" and "hybrid bump and run".
 Lunch: You will order off the menu at the Pelican Bay Club House.
 Afternoon: Each afternoon you will play nine holes of golf and our pros will travel amongst the groups for more guidance based on your morning instruction and other valuable on course information...
 Dinner: In the Plantation Room at the hotel. Dinner will be served.
 Evening: We try and arrange for evening entertainment at the hotel for 7:00 p.m. in the Plantation Room. If there is no entertainment available, the evening is yours to relax, settle in, and get some rest.

Day 4: Course management. Putting. Knock down. Fairway bunker and so much more learning. 9 holes of golf in the afternoon.
(Wednesday, March 26)
   
 Breakfast: In the Plantation Room
 Morning: Develop your golfing game plan and learn about course management. How to get out of trouble effectively and stay out. Learn to hit different kinds of shots, i.e. knock down, punch, draw and fade, fairway bunker, and others. Use your imagination and be creative in your club choice. Putting-what does it mean to truly play the 'Pro'-side. Make every 3 footer look like a 'gimme'.
 Lunch: You will order off the menu at the Pelican Bay Club House.
 Afternoon: Each afternoon you will play nine holes of golf and our pros will travel amongst the groups for more guidance based on your morning instruction and other valuable on course information...
 Dinner: In the Plantation Room at the hotel. Dinner will be served.
 Evening: Jerry Reymond (golf pro) will give a presentation on the rules and etiquette of the game of golf.

Day 5: Golf simulator to see what changes you have made. 9 holes of golf in the afternoon.
(Thursday, March 27)
   
 Breakfast: In the Plantation Room
 Morning: Today we are going to put you back on the simulator to show you the improvements in your swing. Followed by the opportunity to work on what you saw on the simulator, including an open forum where you can ask the pros to show you something you have always wanted to learn but never had the chance.
 Lunch: You will order off the menu at the Pelican Bay Club House.
 Afternoon: Each afternoon you will play nine holes of golf and our pros will travel amongst the groups for more guidance based on your morning instruction and other valuable on course information...
 Dinner: In the Plantation Room at the hotel. Dinner will be served.
 Evening: We try and arrange for evening entertainment at the hotel for 7:00 p.m. in the Plantation Room. If there is no entertainment available, the evening is yours to relax, settle in, and get some rest.

Day 6: Program wrap-up. Answer any questions you may have. Closing luncheon and graduation.

 Breakfast: In the Plantation Room
 Morning: Now it is time to put it all together as you and the pros go out for a complete morning of execution on the course as the pros play with you to watch and evaluate your shots and course management. We may even have a beat the Pro segment if you are up to the challenge and if time allows.
 Lunch: Closing lunch, graduation, and departure from the hotel. Your closing lunch and graduation will be held in the Plantation Room.
 Afternoon: Depart for your next destination. Safe travels and come back soon.
