Marvelous Marvin Hamlisch

Marvin Hamlisch was a man with ideas at his fingertips. A composer for both stage and film, as well as conductor of symphony orchestras across the country, he won virtually every award that exists (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, Pulitzer, Golden Globe) and left a legacy that has shaped and transformed the American musical landscape. There are just too many works to name but not too many to appreciate, so join us as we reconstruct his life, his times and his music. Enjoy live and recorded music, film biography and lively lectures.

Bond, James Bond

For over 50 years, the fictional British Secret Service agent of MI6, James Bond, has intrigued and thrilled us as he has faced and conquered the villains of Britain and the West. This longest continually running film series has given us music to remember, cars to long for and gadgets to dream about. Learn about Bond’s creator, his origins and the change in character as he moved from Cold War fears to modern-day global intrigue. Film clips, discussion and lectures will round out your experience.

Bob Fosse, Master Choreographer

Bob Fosse — director, choreographer, actor, screenwriter — was an intense and driven visionary. His creations are provocative, entertaining and unlike anything that came before. From his early works (“Pajama Game” and “Damn Yankees”) to later productions (“Cabaret” and “All That Jazz”), appreciate the dynamic changes. Explore his works and life through film clips, discussion, lectures and live music.

St. Petersburg (Florida)

Known as the “Sunshine City” with an average of 361 sunny days per year, “St. Pete” has 234 miles of shoreline and boasts 125 city parks, as well as one of America’s top-ranked beaches and the largest municipal arena in the southeast.
