Begin your adventure by discovering a true wonder of nature and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Iguazu Falls. The falls span 1.7 miles on the Iguazu River, which forms the border between Brazil and Argentina in this region, and tumble from as high as 269 feet — 100 feet taller than Niagara Falls.

This program may only be taken as an extension to Antarctica’s Peninsula, the Falklands and South Georgia Islands (Program #21169).

Day 1: Overnight flight from the U.S.A.


Days 2-3: Arrival Foz do Iguacu (Brazil):

Arrive in Foz do Iguacu on the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls, which sits on the border between Brazil and Argentina. Your first night is spent meeting your fellow participants, enjoying a welcome dinner and discussing the next day’s activities. With your Road Scholar group leader, set out on a full-day field trip to explore Iguazu Falls from the Argentinian side. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near the falls. Lodging: Resort hotel near Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian side.



Day 4: Flight to Buenos Aires (Argentina) to begin program

Travel Details
  Start of Program:
This program begins in the late afternoon on Day 2 at the orientation at the hotel. You will be staying at Recanto Park Hotel or similar that night.
  End of Program:
This program ends on Day 4 after breakfast at the hotel. You will be staying at Recanto Park Hotel or similar the night before.
  Required documents:
The Road Scholar Health & Safety Form is required. IMPORTANT: The Government of Argentina will now charge American, Canadian and Australian Citizens visiting Argentina a $160 USD per person Reciprocity Fee, which will be required upon arrival in Argentina. (The amount of this fee is subject to change.) Currently this fee is set to go into effect for participants entering the country via the international Buenos Aires airport (EZE) as of December 29, 2012 and via the domestic Buenos Aires airport (AEP) as of October 1, 2012. The Reciprocity Fee may also be required for entry via other means (land, sea) but this has not been officially determined at the time of this printing. It is now possible (and advisable) to pay this fee online prior to travel and the Direction National of Migration (DNM) has incorporated the following procedure to pay online: 1. Go to the following website: https://virtual.provinciapagos.com.ar/ArgentineTaxes/ 2. Mid-way down the screen you will see a box “Log in” and below that box you can choose the option “Sign Up”. Click that option and you will be brought to a webpage that will ask you create a username and choose a password. 3. Complete the form with the corresponding personal and credit card information. The information provided by you and the income code is sent to the DNM online. 4. Print the payment receipt and bring it with you as you travel on your program as you will asked to present it on arrival before immigration procedure. You may also be asked to present the receipt when you check in for your flight in the USA. 5. If you have lost your receipt but paid on line, your record of payment can be retrieved as long as you have the same credit card with you that was used to pay the fee. In this case, you will not need to pay the fee again.

  Transportation to site: All participants who purchased their air travel through Road Scholar Travel Services, will be met at the airport and provided with a transfer to the program hotel. Taxis will be readily available at the airport for participants arriving independently.
  From End of Program
  Location: Iguazu Falls
  Transportation from site: All participants who are continuing on to the main program #21169: Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctic Islands will be transferred from the hotel to the airport at the end of the program.
