“A rose-red city half as old as time,” Petra was the capital city of the Nabataeans and remains one of history’s most spectacular examples of rock-cut architecture. Walk among its ornate facades, grand tombs and passages and learn what life was like for the people who once lived here. Plus enjoy an expert-led city excursion in Amman, Jordan’s modern capital.

Day 1: Disembark Aqaba (Jordan) / coach to Petra:

After disembarking in Aqaba on the Jordanian coast, journey north to the archaeological site of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Join a local expert to explore this ancient city, discovering sites including the Siq, a spectacular narrow fissure between soaring red cliffs, Al Khazneh, the elaborate treasury building, the Street of Facades, the massive theater and more. Lodging: Resort near Petra constructed in authentic desert village style and offering breathtaking mountain views.

Days 2-3: Coach to Amman / departure:

Continue to Amman, the capital and largest city of Jordan. An expert-led city excursion includes the Amman Citadel, one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, where the ruins of several civilizations can be found, and the Roman Theatre. Head to the airport in the evening for overnight return flights to the U.S.A.

	Start of Program: This program starts upon disembarkation from the Minerva for participants on programs #21115 and #21116.. You will be staying at Movenpick Petra that night.
	End of Program: This program ends in Amman, Jordan. Flights depart Amman very early in the morning on Day 3. You will be staying at Grand Palace Hotel - Amman the night before.
	Required documents: The Road Scholar Health & Safety Form is required. All visitors require a passport valid for at least six months after date of arrival in the country and all tickets and documents for onward travel.

	Transportation from site:	Departure Transfer: Amman hotel - Queen Alia Airport is included for participants who purchase their air through Road Scholar' designated travel provider when departing on the group travel dates. Independent travelers may join the group transfer to the airport. If the independent flight does not coincide with the group transfer, then private transfers may be arranged in advance by the local provider for USD 60. The group flight is scheduled to depart Jordan at 1:45 am on the morning of March 29. Transfers to the airport will be very late in the evening of March 28.

Day 1:

Disembark Ship / Coach to Petra Jordan
(Wednesday, March 27)

Morning:	Ship arrives in Aqaba, Jordan. Disembark the ship with your luggage and transfer to Petra, Jordan (2hr drive). Arrive to Petra and explore the Rose Red City. The visit will include the main sites such as the "Siq", a long winding fissure between two walls of overhanging cliffs, the "Khazneh" referred to as the Treasury, the Street of Facades, the Court House and the Amphitheater
Lunch:	Lunch at a local restaurant in Petra.
Afternoon:	Check into the Beit Zaman Resort and have a free afternoon to rest or continue exploring.
Dinner:	Buffet dinner at the hotel

Day 2:

Amman, Jordan
(Thursday, March 28)

Breakfast:	Breakfast at the hotel
Morning:	Check out of the hotel and coach to Amman (approximately 3 hours).

Afternoon:	See the city highlights of Amman with your expert guide. See the Citadel, the Roman Theater, and the compare the new and old parts of the city.
Dinner:	Dinner on your own
Evening:	Transfers to the airport for flights returning to the US.
